3. Read Matt Taibbi's 2004 coverage
He's right to call campaign journalism "evil"; it's like CNN gets to pick who the nominee is, not the people.

11. I don't see them as a distraction, but in all fairness, is there anyone
here that believes either of them can win the nomination...or for Ron Paul to win either?

I happen to like a lot of the things all three of those guys say, and I actually think they FORCE the top tier candidates to talk about things they'd rather not.

30. No insults. I'd vote for him for Senate because he would actually have a chance to win.
I see him as a candidate for president who will run every 4 years because he will be unhappy with either a Democratic or Republican president. If he wants to impart his ideas, then fine, but he can never be elected by the nation as a whole despite people's fantasies.

And until the American People stop being herded into what is "possible" and start fighting for real change, our slavery to the Status Quo will continue.

I don't hold out much hope for change in this country at this time.

They want to tear her apart. I'm convinced of this.

I'm still strongly in the Obama camp, especially after reading the article "Hillary's War" in the NYTimes magazine section today. I don't trust her.

18. where do they get their information?
From Joe Sixpack who chooses by name recognition?

The Arkansans I know, right, left, and in the middle are, at best, lukewarm towards Hillary Clinton. The folks I know involved with peace marches and stuff are not impressed with her martial bearing. And many many folks here have met both the Clintons during their long tenure in Little Rock. Where Bill was beloved, Hillary was tolerated.

38. I agree, but haven't a clue what to do about it.
Actually, I'm wondering if another poster had it right... Hillary is being picked because she will, if elected, just mark a place until things simmer down and the next RWer is elected to carry on. Hill will just keep the status quo, so things won't be "ruined" for the true successor....

ohh gak... I need a nap.

orr..... as you say, a miracle.....

28. There they go again deciding for us who will win the nomination
I wish the media would just shut up, Kucinich and Gravel are labeled distractions because they are the only ones promoting real change in the way this country is run. That is bullshit, this country is sucking right now, we need change, we dont need just the same person but in different clothes in the White House.

36. This is what they did in 2004.
But real change will only happen when we stop being herded like cattle into what they want us to do.

We must stop choosing candidates on the basis of whether they "can win realistically" or not.

We must choose real change.

The problem with this country is the people, every bit as much as it is with the monsters who are destroying it.

We must fight for real change by choosing candidates who represent it.

And that means even if they are Kucinich, Gravel, Ron Paul.

Like Barry Corbin once said in Wargames "I'd piss on a spark plug if I thought it would do any good."

We have to stop this endless madness of being herded into the Status Quo, regardless of what Party it is.

Right now NEITHER Party is showing much willingness to listen to the will of the people.

In my opinion, unfortunately, these candidates that are called "distractions" are the best shot this country has.

If it's Hillary VS. Rudy in 2008, we are going to lose this country.

29. Hillary will never win and that is precisely why I will never vote for
her. She is being pushed as being #1 because it is a given that she won't win. Not only has she too much baggage, but IMHO she is too much in bed with Israel and the IRW. Hypocritical on too many levels to count, but I suppose that's what makes a 'good' politician? One who can pander to all sorts and sell their soul? Not my idea/ideal of a good human being; I will never vote for her, even if she wins the primaries. I just won't vote.

Acclimating us to the "choosing of our candidate."

Sounds like the choice has already been made for us.

Just like i expected.

The Dog And Pony Farce of what passes for a political process in this country continues unabated.

So which will we "choose" in 2008?

The Hillary Tyranny or the Rudy Tyranny?

Corleones or Sorpranos?

::Yawn::

39. Hillary's problem is she has such high 'unfavorable' numbers .... and motivates Repubs to vote
I would support Hillary if she becomes the Democratic Nominee.

Even so I believe she would have the highest 'unfavorable' polling numbers of any candidate we could field as our Democratic Party Nominee.

I believe CNN and MSNBC and FOX NEWS want to see a Clinton Nomination because it would electrify the 'down and out' Republican base.
