Remember, all politics are local

Here in the city I reside in, we are having an election for Mayor and all Aldermen this year, as I'm sure many other cities all across America are too. Now just because they don't seem "important" enough, don't forsake them. How many National politicians started out as city council members and/or mayors? The former Governor of the state of Iowa was a small town mayor before he became Governor, and there are other instances all across America, I'm sure. And school board elections have often been targeted by right wingers so they can force their prayer in schools agenda on people. They often move on from there. So get out there and support local candidates of choice as well as national ones. As for me, I have targeted our incumbent Alderman for defeat and have gathered support from the immediate neighborhood for his ouster. We plan to take it all throughout the ward.

that is, they overlook it aside from generally overlooking actual activism, but that's a different rant.

I love local politics. It's where I cut my teeth, and winning locally just once will sustain you with enough hope for a lifetime, because you know you absolutely had a hand in the victory.
