This stupid as is trying to re-ignite the cold war, I guess that ends the GOP's claim to the myth that Reagan ended the cold war.

Bush: Putin has 'derailed' democratic reforms

President's comments risk stoking dispute with Russia over missile shield

But the lecture, however gentle, was not likely to be well-received by Putin, already riled over what he sees as unwelcome meddling by the United States in Russia’s sphere of influence.

Moscow threatens 'retaliatory steps'
Most recently, Moscow has become increasingly irritated by U.S. plans to build a missile shield in Eastern Europe, on Russia’s doorstep.

U.S. officials have been alarmed by threatening statements from Putin and others over the proposed network. Russia believes the system — with a radar base planned for the Czech Republic and interceptor missiles in neighboring Poland — is meant for it. Putin has said he has no choice but to boost his nation’s own military potential in response.

Putin warned over the weekend that Moscow could take “retaliatory steps” including aiming nuclear weapons at U.S. military bases in Europe. China on Tuesday joined Russia in saying the shield could touch off a new arms race.

2. I can't think of a WORSE person to be "speaking" for us at this point
than RatBastard. Of ALL the recent presidents to heat up the Cold War again, he is by far the LEAST ARTICULATE, the biggest BLOWHARD, the most ARROGANT ... If it were ANY other president, I wouldn't feel as worried, but in this war of rhetoric, WE HAVE NO AMMUNITION!

3. well he is sorta right
putin has gathered a lot of power unto himself and is a virtual dictator. will be interesting when his current term is up if he tries to change the constitution so he can run again or puts a crony in his place and runs the country from behind the scenes.

putin though is definately rattling the sabre to try and get bush not to put up the missle shield. things arent great in his country they need something to rally around.

4. Pootie poot has been consistently fucking us here in America.

However fucking awful Bush is, Putin is a ton worse. Putin's fucking with the EU as well, so it's not Bush that's causing this. Putin treated us like an enemy only a few months into office with the sinking of that submarine Kursk. That was when Clinton was still in charge, and Putin was fucking with us.

Putin refused to ask for help for the Kursk because he viewed the West as the enemy. When we went into Iraq, even though that was profoundly wrong and Bush was stupid for doing it, Putin used a mole in our government and gave some of our battle plans to the Iraqis. It doesn't seem to have done much, but it shows how hostile Putin is to our country.

And on top of that, when it comes to consolidating power, Putin has been doing so and putting Bush to shame. He now appoints regional governors, where before they were elected. It would be the equivalent of Bush saying he could pick the governors of the various states, an obviously inappropriate abuse of power.

Things are getting scary with Russia.

5. How ironic
watching this display today. Reading anything about what a farce of a Democracy Russia has become. What a farce of Democracy America has become. And of course, Bush thinks Putin is his friend! (America taken out by those we beat-oh Ronnie rolls over in his grave)

And the kicker, after YEARS of congratulatory rhetoric about "winning" the cold war, and the middle east being the bete noir of all things good-what irony if the nuclear MAD days are back with a vengeance and it's all for naught-this "war on terror." Oh what a hoot. And Cormac McCarthy on Oprah today. Too much.

8. All I could think of while I heard him murder the english language again was...
How could he talk when he is trying and succeeding in taking civil liberties away from Americans and the fact that he is igniting another conflict. That's all we need, NOT!
