Why is the TB wife wearing a mask?

I saw a clip on CNN from Larry King, I think. The speaker guy was not wearing a mask but his wife (I think) did..

12. If she was with him in his room, she'd be the one in the mask

and I understand he's restricted to a negative pressure isolation room. That means he's only allowed to leave if he needs treatment that can't be provided at the bedside.

The interview would have been conducted with them on the other side of the window into the room.

The antibiotics will have little effect on his immune system.

...want to get it, she loves him, wants to be near him...she she wears the surgical mask to protect herself. That should be simple enough to understand.

From what I understood, if he exits his specially ventillated room he must wear a mask. But, anyone who enters his room must wear a mask (supposedly) because that is where containment is.
