NBC-Silverman will do anything to get Rosie back on air
NBC Exec Says He Will Do Anything to Get Rosie O'Donnell
Thursday , June 07, 2007

By Roger Friedman

Look out ABC; NBC wants Rosie O'Donnell in a bad way.

New programming chief Ben Silverman is telling friends he will do anything to get O'Donnell onto the network, and not just in daytime. Silverman is talking to O'Donnell about hosting a prime-time game show he has up his sleeve as well as a daytime hour a la "The View."

O'Donnell, meanwhile, is sitting pretty. Her final ratings on "The View" skyrocketed the show to unprecedented success. Barbara Walters will have quite a gap to fill over the summer as she looks for replacements.

It's not like O'Donnell is going into semiretirement while Silverman prepares his offer. On Monday, Rosie will give friends a sneak peek "hard hat" look at the new arts center she's building on West 45th Street named for a teacher who inspired her love of Broadway.

The building, bought for her For All Kids and Rosie's Broadway Kids foundations, will open officially this fall. The facility is set to contain two dance studios, a music studio, practice rooms, a library, study café, changing rooms, administrative offices and a rooftop terrace. The New York City Department of Cultural Affairs will assist in the funding.

Circle your calendars for Nov. 19. That's the day Rosie and Kelli Carpenter will host a 10th anniversary gala for O'Donnell's charities and the completion of the building.

Who knows? If Silverman has anything to say about it, Rosie may already be back on the air by then.

7. I watched it briefly the other day
and couldn't help but notice they haven't changed their coffeee mug pictures yet...seems to have all their pics on them, and Rosie's is still on it. Surprised the repuke bimbo didn't go out and get them all plain white mugs to use.

16. I'm a guy and I only watched it because of Rosie.
She's the only reason I watched and the second she left, the show became boring again. No offense to Joy, because I think she's a very intelligent woman who brings up a lot of great points, but I can't stand that Lizzy bitch.

3. Good Luck NBC
I won't be watching her show. She may have improved the ratings for the view by creating so many controversies but I could care less. I find her irritating to watch on live broadcast. While She was on, I discontinued watching the view, not that I watched it that often. Put me in the category of not being a fan. I find her spouting conspiracy theories stupid.

5. By Controverseries....Do You
mean her strong anti-occupation/war w/ Iraq beliefs, or how about the impeachment of Bush? She spoke about both practically everyday and much more having to do with Bush cabal.

A lot of men don't like uppity women.

11. I like her place personally
I just don't like HOW she argues. She's light on facts, and resorts too often to her gut feelings and poor research. She might be right on an issue, but if she's gonna argue about something, she needs to be a bit better researched. On top of that, she's interruptive and dismissive. I thas nothing to do with her gender or sexual orientation or weight.

I generally like her, but the way she argues points, she turns many people off. If she were at a party and just talking it wouldn't bother me, but if she's going to represent "the left" whatever that means, she needs to do it better. I hold our side to a higher standard than gut feelings, few sources, and attitude.

13. When was she elected to office?
She is a citizen and has a Constitutional right to her opinion just like every other American.
She represents HERSELF...she owes you NOTHING.

18. BS
She's a public figure, whether she's elected or not, and is held up by both sides at varying times and degrees as a representative of the left.

Still, I never claimed she owes me anything, but just as she has a right to her opinion I have a right to mine, and mine is that she sometimes can really suck at getting hers across, and drive people away from the truth rather than towards it. She even said she didn't want that kind of position, which is one of the reasons she left. She didn't sign up to do Hannity and Colmes and that's what it turned into, and she didn't want to do it anymore. Good for her.

17. I agree to an extent that she's annoying and very loud...
But I think she brings up a lot of good points and I'm glad those points were hitting a demographic they typically wouldn't (middle class, white women). If Rosie does get a show, I hope she tones down her voice, not rhetoric. You can still get your point across without screaming, which often turns people off.

Good luck to her, though!

9. Clear Channel, Faux, NBC-GE, CNN
All are learning that right wing programming is not selling any longer.

The audience has shrunk to 27%.

Here's hoping they all go broke.

Ted Turner, are you busy these days?

does sell well.
