No?

Me neither.

That's what I thought.

Argument over.

8. Nope.
I like the information of his that is used in John Dean's book "Worse Than Watergate." And I think that he adds a bit of entertainment to the republican debates. But there is zero chance of my donating time or money to his campaign, and even less chance of my voting for him.

9. Nope
but I "DU" his polls on other sites
because he is a thorn in the republicans side.

I don't worry about him being a serious
contender to any Democratic Presidential nominee
we may choose.

13. That would be "Gravel".
And other than him saying, correctly, that "America needs to grow up" he seems as stable as Crispin Glover on a weekend bender in Vegas.

And Paul is crazier than a shithouse weasel.

Jeebus man,one issue does not a President make.

32. so you don't care about issues?
So the fact that Paul is anti-choice, pro-gun, anti-stem cell research, and believes that there is a war on Christmas.

And yet you would rather have him picking federal judges than Hillary because Hillary is married to Bill.

Okay.

Edited on Thu Jun-07-07 01:54 PM by gulfcoastliberal
is unpacked of the extreme opus-dei catholic nutcases they voted in.

I do care about issues. Iraq. Ending the insane war on drugs. I agree with Paul on those 2, and his pledge of not starting any new wars is also nice.

The dems cynically use these issues to rally voters but won't really affect change (in order to keep some "hot buttons" for elections). Look how long it has taken the pro lifers just to get abortion restrictions going. They had no chance until the dems installed Alito and Roberts. Ooops. (both parties do it)

Our system is run by multinationals. They decide the issues and the "free market" prescriptions for them.

I contributed $1. It was the only time I ever made a contribution to a Puke.

This was a ways back -- before the invasion, I think. Perhaps shortly after. He probably wasn't running for president at the time. I just wanted to thank him for speaking truth about the war.

Yes, Ron Paul was speaking truth about the war before 99% of the Democrats even dared to.

29. Oh come on, he has a nice short name. Musing on names...
Ron Paul. 2 syllables, short and simple and fast to say. Ron Paul. Like John Steed. Or James Bond. Or John Wayne. Fast, easy, easy to say. Ron Paul. Better than Edwards (sissy british name, playground insult quality) or Obama (too many syllables), or even Clinton (though that almost falls under John Wayne rule). Gore would work except the onomatoepeaish bit of gore, blood, guts, whoohaw, which I don't know why didn't work for him against Bush, or possibly it did (bush, a small plant or GORE!! blood and guts). Clark, now there is a good name, reminds me of SuperMan!

Guilani has no hope, too many syllables and besides, ties to the mob type name. Rush might work, speeding things up but it may be too close to bush for comfort.

:sarcasm: just in case anyone took me seriously which has happened recently.

31. Might not be that farfetched
Putting some very casual thought into this, so don't flame me too bad, but...

Keeping Paul in the race for another year or so would probably be the best thing for the Democrats. Currently, on the bumper-sticker podium-thumping testosterone-pumping sound-bite issues that the Republicans are beating their chests on, he's the voice of reason and sanity.

He's a Libertarian loon, no doubt about it, but right now he's useful for our cause, and as long as that is true he should be encouraged.

In the next year or so, he'll force the other GOP candidates to become even more extreme by making them distance themselves from him. As the occupation progresses and it becomes even MORE unpopular, the other 9 will be supporting positions that like 8% of the country agrees with, effectively delievering the election to the Democrats.

It's a point of fact that with candidate contributions there is a diminishing return on campaign money spent. When a candidate raises 100 million dollars for the campaign and gets, say, 52% of the vote, raising an extra $50 million will only get a few percentage points more.

But a tenth of that extra money sent to a third party that tends to suck votes from the opposition party might suck 10 or 15 percent of the voters away from that party, resulting in an election that looks like a 50%-38%-12% easy victory instead of a close 53%-47% squeaker.

IIRC in Pennsylvania there was a Green Party candidate that pulled out of a critical Congressional race because he found out that ALL of his donors were Republicans trying to split the Democratic vote. The Republicans knew that spending a few dollars on the Greens will lose the Democrats a lot more votes than they would lose. And that the dollars they spent would lose the Democrats more votes than the Republicans would gain by spending the money on their candidate.

I'm not going to give Ron Paul money or time, nor will I vote for him, but I'd sure like to see him in this thing as long as possible.
