65. TMZ says she has a hearing in the morning with the judge who is
going to decide if the sheriff is in contempt because his original order said no electronic devices. She might end up with 45 days in the pokey. Good viewing tomorrow.

73. Giving into her was absolutely stupid and wrong. I hope
the sheriff does suffer some repercussions from this. It sends a terrible message that all a rich person in trouble has to do to get a "Get out of jail free" card is cry and carry on. The sheriff's attitude should have been "Too damn bad. You'll be out of here soon enough. Suck it up."

16. Just one of many examples of how the law
Edited on Thu Jun-07-07 07:19 PM by LibDemAlways
treats rich people differently. She already had her original 45-day sentence virtually cut in half. Then she was allowed to serve the short sentence in a separate area of the jail away from the other inmates. Then she shed copious tears, and it apparently worked. She's back in the confines of her mansion a mere three days later. Bullshit.

The relatives of all the other prisoners in that facility should stage a loud protest out front demanding that their loved ones be afforded the same consideration.

102. An inmate protest wouldn't work
The REAL reason she got got let out is that those in charge of criminal incarceration realized early on that this wouldn't be a deterrent to her, and the less time she spent inside, the less press she'd get. Did you hear the "Paris in jail -- Day Three" starting up? It was making a sham of the hardened criminals and the real sentences they were serving. There is no fury like a press riot over a celeb imprisonment.

Free James Brown!
Free OJ!
Free Nelson Mandela!

Who needs it?
Go back to sucking c*ck on video, Paris, and let someone else drive, fer crissakes.

110. Yep. The aristocrats & nobles
I've fought with myself all day today to keep from beginning a thread:

Rather than the guilotine...

...Rather than the guilotine, pelt the aristocrats & nobles with rotting food everytime they are in public.

Seriously, talk about two Americas, we have two justice systems. MSNBC reguarly airs a show that showcases seriously mentally ill patients that do great harm to themselves in prison, sometimes they die. Nobody cares, it's just entertainment to msnbc. Fifteen year old boys are sentenced to adult prison where they will be raped and tortured every day for many years--and nobody cares.

Paris the heiress already had preferential treatment in the jail, and they felt that 3 frigging days was too much for her delicate sensibilities.

Libby has been convicted and sentenced yet he walks around a free man. Guess what, that wouldn't happen if it were you or I.

I've had it with bastards who the law doesn't pertain to because of how powerful they are--that's not how justice works in a democratic society that is based on the rule of law.

I say it is time that the aristocrats & nobles be put in their place. And rather than use a guilotine, I say pelt them with rotting food.

At least Martha Stewart was woman enough to "suck it up" and serve 6 months in jail! (and then 6 more at home).

Although as one of the M_Y_H children pointed out just now, Martha didn't have a rich daddy like Paris does.

i think most of the attention has been turned on this spoiled deficit of society because so many are looking to see someone, anyone brought to justice that truly deserves it, and since we can't have the true criminals incarcerated, we are fed (by the MSM) some tidbit morsal to placate us.

and even then it is a mirage.

If Paris isn't returned to jail, then this is a travesty of justice and all the women (and men) in jail who pull the "mental illness" B.S. should also be let out.

"TMZ has learned that Paris has been ordered back to court and must attend tomorrow morning's hearing!

Late today, L.A. City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo filed paperwork demanding a hearing before Judge Michael Sauer to determine why the Sheriff's Department allowed Paris to get out of jail, when the judge expressly ordered her to serve out her entire sentence.

The hearing is scheduled for 9:00 AM PDT on Friday."

41. I do too
I was never one of the ones celebrating that she was going to jail at all. I wasn't opposed to it, I just didn't hate her. She did a crime that a lot of people do, and she got a little stint in county for it. It was all pretty kosher too me, and I just didn't feel much about it one way or the other.

But to let her out after three days just proves that our system is fucked. If you're poor, forget it. If your rich and or famous, you can get away with anything.

101. See, that's why we were all so happy to see her go to jail in the first place
Because it was a sign that, despite everything we believed about the justice system, it still could treat the rich and the poor alike.

Silly us. We only thought justice was served. As it turns out, she must have 'served' justice instead, to get out so damn fast....

50. Isn't it normal procedure when an inmate
Edited on Thu Jun-07-07 07:35 PM by LibDemAlways
develops a medical problem, that the problem is treated in an infirmary? I've never heard of an inmate being allowed to go home because of a medical issue. Seems like someone was grasping at straws trying to come up with a justification for something that was clearly a favor done for a rich and famous person.

56. Yea, I know. Next thing we know all the prison inmates are
going to cry and say they have "medical conditions." Are they all going to be let out? Somehow I doubt it. Hell, I recently read about a guy who robbed a bank just so he can go to jail to get medical care. Why couldn't she be send to a Dr. for her "medical condition?"
Ludicrous.

67. About rashes
If Paris was released from prison because of a "rash," I can assure her that one cortisone shot and perhaps antihistamine would have cured it within hours. I have had a full-trunk (back and front) rash that drove me crazy and we didn't know what the problem was. This is how it was treated. Never got the rash back.

the jail overcrowding is so extreme that la county lets a lot of minor offenders out after only a few hours. however . . . i understand she had a special 'dorm' room for celebs, pols and cops who have to spend time in jail and that her 2 bunk room only held her . . . so i guess that argument doesn't wash.

first thought i had was that preferential treatment for the rich just found its poster girl.

83. All she had to do was occupy a cell for basically 21 days
because she came in at 11:30 PM the first day and would have left at 12:01 AM on the last - and that would have counted for 2 of those 23 days. So for 3 weeks she couldn't party, drink, yak on her cell phone, shop, go to the spa, or whatever else she does to occupy her time. She only had to sit and read or write or lay back and do nothing in a special section of the facility where she didn't even have to share her space. Granted, no one wants to be in the slammer and there's nothing glamorous about it, but for God's sake, three days of crying and carrying on and she's out? That's just ridiculous, and yes, she just became the poster child for "the law doesn't apply to me."

The estate tax rate must be raised so that an heiresss such as Paris Hilton has much less to fritter away on her worthless selfish desires. Estate taxes should go to fund higher education for every American so that we can make this country a better place for all.

Apparently the judge that sentenced her wants her back in court tomorrow morning and they might charge the Sheriff that let her out with contempt for not following out the sentence. Anyway they're saying she might go back.

Edited on Fri Jun-08-07 02:22 AM by ShaneGR
Tell me how many people get that kind of sentence for that offense. Not many. This is a weird case of reverse wealth discrimination. She got a long sentence because she's wealthy and famous, not because she's poor. And no one knows exactly what her medical problem was. Not like she's some sort of career criminal.

113. Convenient omission
of the fact that it was parole violation of a drunk-driving conviction. Twice.

She enjoyed the leniency of parole instead of prison, being let off with a warning the first time she was caught driving unlicensed, her 45-day sentence being halved, and now confinement to her home. How many breaks does this glitterati get before it's no longer "reverse wealth discrimination"?
