"We're back to 1971: CRAZIES are running the country." (DALLEK)
Edited on Fri Jun-08-07 07:56 AM by UTUSN
On the motormouth SCARBOROUGH circus this A.M., Robert DALLEK described how KISSINGER kept drunk NIXON off of phone conversations with heads of state and how K. and HAIG called him "our drunk friend" as they carried out their own policy decisions. Then the quote drawing the parallel to Shrub with things being handled by (CHEENEE? KKKarl?).

As for Motormouth Joe, there are some mornings his mouth runs on without stopping, like his carburetor is set to the max (I know nothing about mechanics, among many other things).

Stomach bug hits Bush at G8 talks

US president George W Bush suffered a stomach upset on Friday and missed morning sessions at the G8 talks.

White House counsellor Dan Bartlett said Mr Bush woke up feeling "under the weather". But he was rejoining other leaders, though still not feeling 100%.

Last night, Mr Bush - a teetotaller - was seen sipping beer, but his advisers insisted it was non-alcoholic.

Doctors are not sure if it is "a stomach virus or something like that", Mr Bartlett said.

" guess he didn't want to follow in the footsteps of his father in Asia," his aide said.

In January 1992, the father of the current leader, vomited and collapsed during a state dinner at Japanese Prime Minister Kiichi Miyazawa's residence.

The US leader is due to fly to Poland after the summit ends on Friday afternoon, and to Italy on Saturday.

4. It's a rerun.
I lived through the Nixon presidency, the Civil Rights movement, the Vietnam war, the beginnings of the Women's Movement. There are so many parallels to the 60's and 70's, I'm surprised that more people aren't talking about it.

The Civil Rights Movement was hard-fought and there was alot of persecution before there was any justice. Now, we have the Gay and Lesbian Rights movement. Also hard-fought with opponents with a new justification for their hatred; religion.

The Vietnam War was a long, bloody crime committed by several presidents, but the corruption only became apparent with Richard Nixon. What can I say? Bush is the reincarnation of Richard Nixon. I think he goes by his playbook.

The Women's Movement. Back in the 60's and 70's, it was called "unnatural". Opponents said that biology dictated that men, who were physically stronger and protected? women, should be dominant. They're not using the biology excuse anymore. Now it's religion (again).

The Culture Wars have been going on for a very long time in this country, and these wars include all of the above, and more. When George Bush et al. were students, they resented the "hippies" and wanted their own culture to prevail. Now, 30 or 40 years later, these fratboys have grown up into entitled white men and that's exactly what they're trying to do.

If anybody has another opinion on this topic, I would love to hear it, and I promise not to be snarky. (And if you know me you know how hard that's going to be).

All of this has been in my head and in my heart for so long, I had to rant.

5. & a good rant, but Shrub as Tricky reincarnated? It would have to be an even LESS competent NIXON,
a less historically knowledgeable, less cunning, less insightful --------- but, yes, nefarious, vengeful, power-grabbing (well, through string-pullers).

6. Yes, it is tough to beat Bush at the corruption game.
Incompetence, yes. But his handlers are evil geniuses.

7. If it's a re-run, this time's the farce.
Marx said: Hegel remarks somewhere that all great, world-historical facts and personages occur, as it were, twice. He has forgotten to add: the first time as tragedy, the second as farce.

But this farce doesn't have me laughing.
