Law Clerk vs. Lawyer
Often times I am upset at the people the Today Show books to talk about political and legal issues. Today I was upset that the Today Show booked Laura Ingrahm, who was a law clerk to debate Roy Black, who is a major defense lawyer on the issue of Paris Hilton getting out of jail early. I do not see why the Today Show would book a law clerk to debate a lawyer. I realize that a law clerk actually has to go to law school in order to clerk for a judge, but I would think it would be better to get a full fledged lawyer to go up against a lawyer.

However, I think Ingrahm should be defended against the comment made by Roy Black. Black claimed that Ingrahm and Americans were just angry about Paris Hilton being released from jail because they were jealous of Hilton. In defense of Ingrahm, Ingrahm did go to and graduate from Dartmouth College, which is regarded as one of the best colleges in America so I do not Ingrahm or any female who graduated from Dartmouth is jealous of Hilton.

Finally, Ingrahm seems to be calming down now days. It seems to me that on her T.V appearances, at least, she is not as much of a flame thrower. It seems that her bout with Cancer may have made her a nicer person. She just seems different to me now days. It seemed before that anything that even had a touch of liberal or Democrat in it would be bashed by Ingrahm.

1. She's a lawyer
She used to do defense work for Skadden Arps in New York.
A law clerk is someone who assists a judge by doing research, etc. She clerked for a federal judge right out of law school.

2. Okay
The Today Show only introduced her as someone who clerked for Clarence Thomas. They did not say she worked as a lawyer. Roy Black brought her being a prosecutor and she said she was never a prosecutor.

3. Isn't she the one who told her radio show listeners to call the
Democratic party offices, to jam the phone lines on election day hoping to cause election problems?

4. Hold the Ingraham praise.
Lest anyone think that Ms. Ingraham has turned over a new leaf, don't forget this gem from last November's election:

As the weblog Firedoglake first noted, during the November 7 {2006} edition of her nationally syndicated talk radio show, Laura Ingraham urged listeners to jam the phone lines of 1-888-DEM-VOTE, a voter assistance hotline sponsored by the Democratic Party. Ingraham stated: "I want you to call it and I want you tell us what you get when you call 1-888-DEM-VOTE. They're on top of all of the shenanigans at the polling stations. One problem: you can't get through." Minutes later, while talking with a listener who called the hotline, Ingraham said: "Let's keep 'dem' lines ringing."

And another:

On the October 30 edition of CNN's Larry King Live, when asked by host Larry King if she would "agree that more than 50 percent of the public would support stem cell research," nationally syndicated radio host Laura Ingraham replied: "I think more than 50 percent of the public would probably approve of public executions of child molesters, but it doesn't mean that we actually do that, Larry. I mean, please."

And another just this week, playing the conservative commentator's victim card against CNN's John Roberts:

INGRAHAM: It's absurd (for Bush to accuse critics of the immigration bill of being unpatriotic). ... to insult his base, I mean, I hope he thinks he's going to be saved by the liberal elites at CNN, John, because if he is, then I'll be wrong about this. But I think it's kind of silly.

ROBERTS: Excuse me, what was that last comment?

INGRAHAM: By the way, John, how did you introduce me for this segment before the break. The outspoken Laura Ingraham. Do you guys introduce liberal commentators that way? I'm going to check.

I'm extremely sympathetic to her suffering with cancer - no one deserves that, and I wish her all the best health-wise. But as for thinking she's turned over a new leaf - sorry, a tiger doesn't change its stripes.

6. Forgot That
I will admit that I forgot about that; however, I did mention that she seems to be different on T.V. I do not listen to her show so I do not know what she does on her show. In addition, I was not trying to praise her, I just thought she had become at least a little different after the Cancer issue. I realize now that she has not changed that much. After I recieved the first reply to my post I looked her up on wikipedia and saw the paragraph on how she told her listeners to call the Democratic Party hotline. I had forgot about that incident until I look her up on wikipedia. So I have learned that I should look up people before I post about them.

All law clerks all lawyers. It is a very prestigious job for any attorney.

7. Word Choice
I knew before I posted that a law clerk was at least a third year law student that worked for a judge. At the time I did not stop to think that if she is clerking she most likely has her law liscence. I was just being a stickler for word choice. I just got caught up on the fact that they refered to her as a law clerk and not a lawyer. After thinking about the first post I realized they were right and I was just being a stickler for word choice. I realized as a law clerk she is a lawyer. I just got stuck on the fact that they introduced her as a law clerk.
