Morris: Hillary Will Not Withdraw From Iraq Because She’s ‘A Woman’

Last night on Fox News’s Hannity and Colmes, right-wing pundit Dick Morris claimed that if Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) becomes president, she “will not withdraw from Iraq.” His evidence? She’s a woman. “As a woman, she would not want that record,” Morris stated. Watch it:

Morris’s claim is completely baseless. Clinton has explicitly stated, “If we in Congress don’t end this war before January 2009, as president I will.” Moreover, she was recently one of just 14 senators who voted against the Iraq war funding bill because it didn’t contain a timeline for the withdrawal of U.S. troops. Other women in the House and the Senate, including Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Rep. Jane Harman (D-CA), and Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA), also voted against the legislation.

Morris appears to be branding withdrawal from Iraq as a weak position that a woman running for president will want to avoid. But according to recent polls, a majority of Americans want a timetable for the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq. With over 3,500 U.S. troops now dead from the Iraq war and the Army warning that the longer we stay in Iraq, the more casualties will rise, the only position that’s weak is not having the courage to support a timetable for withdrawal.

Digg It!

Transcript:

HANNITY: I get this last question, putting you on record early, who, — I think the Republicans will win the election because the Democrats are now so positioned left and I think it will be very hard for them to overcome that. Agree or disagree?

MORRIS: Disagree. Hillary will be the next president. But let’s all work to try to stop it.

HANNITY: You really believe that?

2. OK. She'll end the war if elected.

Now, how about the occupation?

4. Isn't that what she said?
Or do you agree with Morris that she won't be able to actually pull out?

5. Let's see, I either assume she'll bring ALL the troops home OR I agree with Morris?

That's as far as I'll nibble the bait.

3. 11 Bravo: Dick Morris will not withdraw from public view because ...
aside from being a toe-sucking oxygen thief, the poor addled basatard still maintains delusions of relevance.

8. I would be inclined to agree,
Hillary will be so fixated on proving to the world she isn't weak, that she will probably make things a hell of alot worse. She will push something completely Nixonian like "Peace with Honor: Part II" that will only prolong the war.

10. I love it when Conservative pundits make baseless claims...
They frequently let their mouths write checks that their asses have no chance of cashing. Of course, on Fox Noise, there was no chance that anyone would refute him...It's great that they have this sanctuary. It's like the Catskill douchebag farm...they're all protected in their little preserve.

12. Wondered when they would come out in public.
And admit why most people are against Hillary.. SHE IS A WOMAN. And men can't have women running the country. Hell they might show up the mess they have made of it.

13. Has Bill Clinton ever said he regretted working so closely with this Dick?
I was always lukewarm toward Clinton but when I learned that Morris was his adviser or consultant or strategist or whatever the hell he was, I grew much colder. I still think in a lot ways he was a good president (1000 times better than Bush), but I became very disillusioned with him when I heard about Morris, whom I despise.
