I just realized that I am NOT over 10,000 posts now- Do you know me?

Do you recognize my screen name? Do you have any idea of me at all? I am more lurker than reader, more responder than thread poster but here I am with over 10,000 posts.

So I am just curious if anyone here is aware of my existence. If not well, there's like a gazillion people here so it's understandable. I am familiar with a lot of regular screen names that even if I never have spoken to them directly I have a sense of them as people. So many of you I have affection for and even more of you I have tremendous respect. There isn't a subject or expertise that isn't represented here. I have never stopped being amazed at the caliber of minds that have found this place. It is my daily addiction, my internet home. I love this place and the people here so if you haven't noticed me yet, keep an eye out. I have a feeling the next 10,000 posts will probably be a lot quicker. ;)

People with avatars or pictures in their signature definitely do stand out. Right now I feel so aligned to my eternal prayer for Gore it's hard to let go. Maybe if I add my doggies to my signature? They are cute doggies and they definitely have the proper politics. My pug actually growls at Bush- he's the best.

I spent more time at The Smirking Chimp then and must have arrived here due to the Beacon of the Top Ten list. I'm Marnie and I post threads without doublechecking if I know what I'm talking about. I thought I had 10000 posts because I clicked on someone's profile and thought it was mine but I really have only 4000 or so. I'm clearly flawed but occassionally have something to say with only minimal typos that I also should doublecheck before I post. See ya around! :hi:

Altho she was much better in the Birds than in Marnie.

Marnie was never in any baby name books so it had no meaning. Every now and then little girls would compare their name's meanings but I had nothing. Well, nothing except the description of the movie Marnie in TV Guide, "A story about a compulsive liar and thief." So that was how I was defined and they never let me forget it because being older siblings that was their job. Somehow I managed to avoid the prophecy. ;)

And I don't even own the movie Marnie because as you said, it was definitely not one of his best.

And I agree with the other poster that said unique avatars or avatars that aren't used as much and personal sig lines with images tend to stick in my mind. I don't always know the poster's name, but I recognize the sig line.

When I first heard about Monkeyman my mind instantly flashed to his signature graphic. Or how do you miss Swamprat or Catwoman or... well you get the point. What to add? hmmmm

My first impression is you're an honest type of poster not prone to hysterics, from what I can recall. I didn't realize you'd been around for so long until I just peeked at your profile. I often feel like a newbie when I notice how long so many here have been posting.

Sooo embarassed right now but trying to roll with it. I've been nagging myself to post more threads, that with some memorable pics may actually give me more of a presence. Since I am posting here daily for hours I feel I should try and connect more with all of the great people here. I will look for you as well. :hi:

Once, not long after the 2004 election, when everyone was still fighting and upset and playing the blame game. I attempted to post a thread in the Lounge about how every one in GD was in a foul mood and I was sick of all the useless complaining. Would have been fine except I accidentally posted the thread in GD... :blush:

That should make you feel better about mistakenly viewing your post count. Heck, knowing me I might have done that before too. :D

A lot of people feel the same way. I've been here since early 2001, and met a lot of people in the first year or so. Even hosted a get-together in DC in 2002. But as DU has gotten larger, there's been less of that and less of a sense of community.

In any group, there are some people who stand out, seem to have private jokes with everyone else, and accumulate massive counts. Cheers to them. But most people have doubts, too. Everything we type just goes into the void. My posts sink, too. Someones the ones I spend most time on drop like a rock without a comment.

This is still the best message board I know of of any type. And we all share a connection just by being here.

I had two friends by the name of Marnie in grade school, so I've always noticed you. :)

I'm from NJ and it's somewhat common there and NY but I live in PA now and I always get people saying they never heard of it before. Sometimes they ask me if it's short for something and if I'm feeling frisky I say, "Yes. It's Maaaaarrrrrrrrrnnnnnnnieeeeeeeeee." Sometimes they laugh, sometimes they seem annoyed like I made fun of them. I dunno, if you get asked the same question for your entire life you need to shake things up to deal with the boredom.

I've only ever met two Marnies in my life (the ones that I went to grade school with) so it is fairly uncommon around here!
