Surge is just starting?
I thought we've been surging for months...

"The strategic movement of forces into the theater is complete, and the surge is just starting," said U.S. military spokesman Lt. Col. Christopher Garver. "Now that the force is here, we'll see the counterinsurgency start in full swing, and we'll be able to execute the strategy as it was designed."

ours and theirs. Their deaths are not justified due to the fact they hadn't done anything to us, ours are because we are invaders and occupiers and plain old theives IHMO

Surge is the name of a citrus soft drink first introduced in Norway under the name Urge by the Coca-Cola Company in 1996 to compete with Pepsi's Mountain Dew. It became very popular in Norway so the next year Coca-Cola decided to start making it in USA under the name Surge, and in Denmark and Sweden as Urge. A surge is a prolonged over-voltage condition. Surges can damage electronics and corrupt or destroy data.
www.liebert.com/support/glossary/power_gloss.asp

A rise in water level caused by strong wind or fluctuations in the atmospheric pressure. This term is usually applied to a sharp set-up effect at the downwind end of the lake, but thunderstorms can cause brief local storm surges in bays and harbours. See Set-up.

To flow more rapidly than usually. Said of a glacier.
college.hmco.com/geology/resources/geologylink/glossary/s.html

An unwanted transient over voltage which lasts anywhere from a few nanoseconds to almost a second. Electric A/Vcomponents are quite sensitive to this type of distress, computer components are most sensitive to this and can permantly damage or erase data.

A surge is a short transient wave of current/power in an electrical circuit.
www.upsi.com/glossary.html

A sudden and often destructive increase in line voltage. A regulating device known as a surge suppressor or surge protector can protect computer equipment against surges.
www.angelfire.com/ny3/diGi8tech/SGlossary.html

A change in water level caused by the weather, that travels with about the same speed as the tide. Small surges are caused by local weather (high barometric pressure and offshore winds lowering sea level), but large surges are caused by weather patterns some distance away. Because the surge interacts with the tidal wave, times of high and low water may also be affected.

The linear DOF forward and back toward the screen. An example is a car accelerating.
www.iwerks.com/notshocked/iwerks/i-glossary.html

An abnormally high voltage lasting for a short period of time.
www.systemconnection.com/downloads/poweradapterkb/glossary.html

A sudden pulse of extra voltage, lasting a second or longer, which can cause the computer to crash and damage files or computer components if there is no surge protector on the line. A burst of extra voltage that lasts only a fraction of a second is called a spike.
www.startech.com/glossary/glossary.cfm

A ring-shaped cloud of gas and suspended solid debris that moves radially outward at high velocity as a density flow from the base of a vertical eruption column accompanying a volcanic eruption or crater formation.
members.tripod.com/Midju/glossary.html

An increase in the power level coming through the wall socket. Surges are gradual and build to a point where they may do some damage to your PC's components. Usually this is prevented by a circuit breaker or sometimes the power supply may actually give up to save the rest of the PC's components. A surge is the opposite of a brownout, when the power drops to low levels, and your PC may not even start at all.
www.msun.edu/infotech/its/how/glossary/s.htm

An oversupply of voltage from the power company, lasting as long as several seconds. A strong surge can damage electronic equipment.
www.iec-usa.com/Browse02/GLSS.html

The increase in sea water height from the level that would normally occur were there no storm. Although the most dramatic surges are associated with hurricanes, even smaller low pressure systems can cause a slight increase in the sea level if the wind and fetch is just right. It is estimated by subtracting the normal astronomic tide from the observed storm tide.
