Nifong (Duke Prosecutor) Admits He Should Be Disbarred.
RALEIGH, N.C. - District Attorney Mike Nifong said Saturday he should be disbarred following a disciplinary committee ruling that he broke numerous rules of professional conduct during his disastrous prosecution of three Duke University lacrosse players falsely accused of rape.

Nifong vowed to waive any appeal of punishment imposed by a disciplinary committee.

Yahoo...

Wow, I didn't see that coming.

1. I suspect he has little choice.
"Specifically, the bar's three-member disciplinary panel unanimously found Nifong guilty of fraud, dishonesty, deceit or misrepresentation; of making false statements of material fact before a judge; of making false statements of material fact before bar investigators, and of lying about withholding exculpatory DNA evidence.

Nifong had been charged with seven counts of violating the rules of professional conduct that govern attorney conduct in North Carolina.

During closing arguments attorney Doug Brocker of the North Carolina State Bar said Nifong engaged in a "systematic abuse of prosecutorial power and discretion in the Duke Lacrosse case."

The whole country knows he was the victim of his own overweening ambition and lack of conscience.
"Mad dog prosecutors" seems to be the norm, rather than the exception.

2. It's all over and this way he retains some dignity at least.
Matters little to me as long as he can't malpractice law again. Which is the maximum penalty in this instance. Criminal contempt charges that may occur could ratchet things up a little but that's a separate venue.

4. Personally, I think he should do prison time.
Trying to railroad defendants that he knew were innocent deserves nothing less.

7. Who is Randy...
and why is this a non-story? A committee finds that a prosecutor tried to railroad some innocent defendants into a rape conviction, and it is no big deal?

12. Should three innocent white guys have gone to prison...
to even out the stats? I don't see how that has anything to do with justice.

16. No...
but, I want to know why there is no outrage for the exact same thing that's done on a dailey basis.

9. She said woman are raped all the time in this country and go unreported so to her
its a non story. I'm not saying I agree with her but thats what she said. she also followed up by saying we have more important issues in this country than worry about something like this.

11. Your post seemed to imply that you agreed with her.
Sorry if I took that the wrong way. To me, two wrongs don't make a right. Throwing innocent people in jail as a way to make up for unreported rapes is pretty sick.

Again, who is Randy?

14. Actually, he hasn't been disbarred yet.
The committee hasn't yet decided his punishment.

20. We'll see if the defense team can get criminal contempt charges going.
I'm not getting my hopes up but.. since the DoJ is of no help, it's the only game in town.

22. He's an idiot. He had no case. A jury would've balked immediately.
I don't get what he thought he was doing. It was plain stupid.
