My husband got the following email at work through a wholly non-related discussion group he subscribes to.

10. No, but "We're Killing them in Fundraising" Does Not Reflect
what we will see on our TV screens next year. You know that as well as I do.
The Repiglickin' media will give their friends all the free airtime they want.

We were "killing them in fundrasing" in 2004, yet President Kerry is conspicuous by his absence from the White House.

We are not doomed -- if we can go around the "news" media the way Al Gore has done.
Unfortunately, the only one who can do that in 2008 is Al Gore.

And did we really kill republicans in fundraising in 2004? I don't remember that.

17. We Were Raising Money Faster Than Kerry's Campaign Could Spend It
But a few more minutes of Dem ad time would have been lost in the ocean of BushLove eminating from every TV screen anyway,
so the campaign ended up with a subsantial surplus. Not enough to buy a TV network though. Not even close.

8. I just wonder what the faithful who are having trouble paying
the light bill, filling the car, and putting enough food on the table to keep everybody alive think about this one. They're already getting socked for 10%.

I doubt those bible study workbooks ever have the "give all you have to the poor and follow me" and "what you give to the least of these you give to me" verses in them. Certainly they'll be hard pressed to twist a few verses out of context to say "live on the streets and eat out of garbage cans to promote a mega church minister's lavish lifestyle."

I've always had a very unsympathetic attitude to most organized religions, thinking the shepherd and his flock analogy was a dead giveaway: the shepherd cares for his flock to make them easier to fleece.

This corporatized tract makes me think I was right and that makes me sad. I know too many good people who go to church and don't have a clue about this stuff and I know it's not my job to tell them.

None of these good people are stupid. They will find out eventually. Churches that are going corporate are playing with fire and will get burned.

9. pffft!
You ain't got the good stuff until you get the prayer rug or the magic image of Jesus. I got one of those just two weeks ago. The prayer rug. It's paper but if I pray to teh Jesus on it, after I send my 'donation', I get whatever I want!

15. Sounds like they want the rich to give all their money away to
fundie churches and fundie educational institutions, rather than to the poor.

I'm thinking Jesus might not exactly be pleased by this angle.......
