The truth about Hillary being booed at Take Back America today
Several bloggers tell the story better than I can. I have posted some links below. I was in the room when Hillary was booed and the crowd was NOT booing the military, we reacted when Hillary blamed the Iraqi government for the mess in Iraq. And yes, the RW blogs have already claimed that we were booing the troops. Some of the RW bloggers were there and they had a better seat than I did. So this just proves their agenda to demonize the left, even if that means they lie to do so.

One thing the media hasn't reported is that Hillary had several people in the back of the room and they went around trying to shut up anyone who reacted negatively to anything during Hillary's speech. When I shouted "BRING THEM HOME" a young guy tapped me on the shoulder and asked me to show Senator Clinton some respect. I asked him where was her respect for the 3500+ troops who have died and he walked away and left me alone.

1. Bill Press "reported" on the Ed Schultz show
about an hour or so ago that the crowd booed Hillary because she said the troops were doing a great job - I had heard Victoria Jones on Thom Hartmann earlier today and Victoria Jones who was at the speach reported that Hillary was booed because she blamed the Iraqis for their situation....

About an hour after Bill Press said what he said on the Schultz show - a member of Code Pink called in and tried to set Ed Schultz straight on why Hillary was booed - he blew her off was sarcastic and rude to her.

I don't listen to Ed Schultz very often and after hearing this BS I'm not going to in the future - he keeps saying Hillary isn't left enough for these folks - it has nothing to do with being left enough whatever the hell that means - I'm sorry but I'm beginning to think Ed Schultz is a BONEHEAD.

3. I heard that too
Shultz and Press are beyond hopeless. Did you hear how indignant Shultz got when he was accused of spreading rightwing talking points? Give me a break. He is very ill informed, and something tells me he won't back down even when he is proven wrong.

which was the only proper response. She did the same thing at the NH debate, instead it was worse as she used the phrase the "Iraqi people." Now she has narrowed it down to the government, which is still absurd since it was our invasion that destabilized their country.

11. Especially, when they made it easy for Bush to mobilize our
troops and attack a country who hadn't done anything to us. A lot of the public was brainwashed with propaganda, and supported the war, but the members of Congress knew better because they had better intel. Senator Barbara Boxer wrote her constituents a letter back then stating why she voted against going into Iraq. Her decision was based on the same information that the other sentators got. So no excuses please and stop blaming the victims. That is so Nazi.

People may have wanted to make Hillary look bad, but they did themselves no favor

Now you have to go around trying to explain the fiasco

FIASCO? Because people recognize her for the fraud that she is?

34. I am not impressed with the paid staff she had
trying to shut down dissent. She is a sleazy bullshit artist, nothing more.

She promoted herself as one of the top ten trial attorneys in America at an ABA convention before Bill announced his presidential aspirations. I spent time with her. I had to deal with her. And I gave a keynote about technology and the law. And every single lawyer there had dozens of jury trials under their belt. except for one. Hillary had not tried one case before a jury at that point. Yet, her PR staff told us that she was one of the top ten.

her entire life is based on PR and BULLSHIT. Her nomination will be no better. to the contrary, it will lead to the death of this country. the majority of people see her for what she really is. a fraud. they will never vote for her. If nominated, the Democrat Party dies. That leaves some neocon ultra-reicht wing ass who will utterly destroy what is left of a once great nation.

The best thing that Hillary can do in the service of her nation is to
a) resign her senate seat
b) enter a convent secretly
c) never appear in public again
d) leave america's future to those who place the US ahead of their own political gain.

33. Buuuut, the booing didn't CAUSE the fiasco
the misrepresentation of it by right-wing blogers and media hacks caused the fiasco.

Should I not feel free to boo Hillary because some right-wing nut might misrepresent what I did? Should we live in that kind of fear of the propaganda apparatus of the other side? Adjust how we represent our beliefs?

That would be as silly and pathetic as being afraid to cut funding for a war because you feared being tarred by the other side as "against the troops". Surely we wouldn't let the wacko right define the terms of debate for us like THAT, would we? Uhhh, would we?

"us" does it all by themselves.

Trying to blame people who support a legitimate candidate, for the ill mannered behavior of riff-raff

is truly disgusting, reaching and pathetic

"us" needs to take a long hard look at themselves and learn some manners and diplomacy.

They stink up the rest of the party with their uncouth low-life antics.

She has issues that are just not what the people want... Ask her about Health-care now as opposed to when she was first lady.... I was surprised to find out she is #2 person receiving the most money from the Insurance companies.... Big difference from when she was supporting universal health care when she was first lady....

19. Hillary packed the room?
I really am only lukewarm on Hillary to begin with but did she really organize a "pack the room" with her people or was it just a matter of people who discount what Kucinich has to offer and decided it was a good time to head for the potty?

If she really did pack the room then she's as pathetic is Bushco and their invitation only townhalls with loyalty oaths. Someone upthread said her "people" were trying to shut up dissenters in the crowd so it's obvious there was manipulation going on of some sort.

67. She had close to a busload of people come in
I was there, too - along with a few other DU'ers. We were just coming into the ballroom as the Hillary people (I'm guessing interns and staff, among others) arrived with their signs and banners. They were told to put down the signs by the buffet tables and either sit in a designated area for staff or stay in the back.

The boos came from about 75% of the audience and were definitely in response to Senator Clinton's blaming the Iraqi government for not managing to fix things fast enough, not in response to her praising the troops for liberating the Iraqis from Saddam.

Overall, her speech was well-received, and she made a lot of good points, which the audience acknowledged by applauding her. Personally, I would rate her speech (figuring in delivery and content) as my third favorite - behind Edwards and Richardson.

Sad that some in this thread believe that 75% of the TBA attendees are 'riff raff'.

I can't tell. Sounds like Hillary really got cheered a lot. Sounds like they liked her. She got more cheers than jeers, and I'm not sure what the boos were about. Sounds like even at that point there were some cheers for her. She looked great (from the point of view of a woman older than she). She did seem poised and did seem to connect and communicate to the audience even though that is not her most receptive constituency.

43. What did she expect her response would be?
Did she think the crowds would cheer? Some times I wonder just who Clinton is in bed with. I still think Bill was a good President, but as far as his wife is concerned.... 100% HELL NO.

Kucinich is the man. Why the heck are Edwards and Clinton beating him at the polls? He needs a stronger advertising campaign. He needs more response time in the debates. Bloody hell, election time may seem far away now, but we NEED to plan early this time. We need to get our shit together and we need to unite.

Does anyone see her as someone who could unite the left? I sure as hell don't. The only options I see are Kucinich, or Al Gore, if he would step up.

60. Great answer, proud2Blib.
