Right Wing Watch - We're Strangling the Donkey
It is axiomatic among our Republican Pundit class that Democratic Candidates want to run as moderates because Americans hate liberalism so much (in this they agree, apparently, with the Democratic Leadership Conference). They have to pretend to be moderate to trick the American people into voting for them (see for example, Clinton calling for an end to welfare).

Unfortunately in this election cycle, according David Limbaugh, the "Smart" Limbaugh brother, we, the liberals in the party, are messing up their chances to trick the American People.

The pressure is working; fueled largely by the growing unpopularity of the war and conservatives' pronounced disappointment with President Bush over immigration and other issues, the Dem candidates are already much further to the left than liberal John Kerry was in 2004.

. . . let it not be overlooked just how radical is the leftist agenda for America: They envision a completely different nation from that of mainstream Americans. Let it not be overlooked that these radicals, at this very moment, own the Democratic Party and all its movers and shakers.

I guess I don't feel like I own the Democratic Party, but them I'm a bit of a Moderate, so maybe I wouldn't.

What's interesting is the sort of triple cross Republicans imagine is going on in the head of Hillary Clinton. She really is a radical liberal just like us. But she has to pretend to be a moderate Democrat to placate the middle, an act she's been putting on for years, apparently. And now, in a bizarre switch-a-roo she has to pretend that she's agreeing with us to placate us, while at the same time secretly actually agreeing with us. That must be very difficult to keep straight.

Unless, of course, you favor the simpler explanation that she really is a bit of a moderate.

1. Ahh the brilliant david limbaugh
He of the - christians are being persecuted in America because they are not being allowed to force their beliefs on the entire population. -

I think it is very fair to say that one major political party in the United States is controlled by "radicals."

A different view of America then that of Mainstream Americans?? Would the limbaugh mainstream be the 26% who still believe bush is a christian war hero?

2. "Radical"
"let it not be overlooked just how radical is the leftist agenda for America: They envision a completely different nation from that of mainstream Americans. "

I don't know about the party, but if my personal agenda were enacted, the United States:

would not be at war
would not spend more than the rest of the world combined on military aggression and weaponry
would collect more taxes from the ultra-rich and give more aid to the poor and homeless
would provide national healthcare to all, people would pay based on their ability to pay
would give equal rights to all races and sexual orientations
would enforce a minimum 35 mpg on passenger cars from the 2008 model year, 40 mpg from 2012 model year
would finally place some limits on the power of corporations to control the electoral process
would force those same corporations to operate in an ethical manner without harming American citizens, or lose their charter

If that makes me a radical, so be it. If the radical-militarist-ultra-right-social-darwinist present US paradigm is "mainstream", then I REALLY, REALL, REALLY do NOT want to be "MAINSTREAM".

3. Yes, our radical vision of America
One where:
1) We're out of Iraq ASAP
2) Everybody has access to health care
3) The minimum wage is a living wage
4) We invest in alternative energy and reduce our dependence on foreign oil
5) Any two Americans that are in love can get married.
6) College is affordable to everybody
7) CEOs don't get tens of millions in bonuses while laying off thousands of workers
8) equal justice for all under the law, and not just for Republicans
