Interestingly enough, the poking around by Mike Bloomberg at an Independent run for President has me feeling a little bit better about Barack Obama than I have since he first entered the race.
My initial instincts about Barack were cynically skeptical: Another wishy washy, word-parsing, please everyone, Rahm Emanuel supported, Iran nuking on-the-table, no legislative record-having, usual suspect contribution-getting, compromise anything for power SOFT DEMOCRAT - suspected I.
But I've tried to keep an open mind. Maybe he's just doing and saying what a guy needs to do and say to get elected in this here Republic of ours? Maybe he's not really a tool of bad guys? My jury has been (and continues to be) out on Barak.
But this whole Bloomberg thing has me feeling a bit better. After all, who are Bloomberg's buddies at the CFR and the DLC worried about? Why has Mr. Inner Circle been pushed out into trial-balloon land?
My guess is that someone thinks that their already hedged bets are looking a bit weak. Hillary is in a fight for her life. The Republican candidates are hurtin' for certain - even Law and Order Boy.
Maybe they fear Edwards or Gore? But right now Obama is the presumptive usurper of Clinton. If the CFR / DLC crowd was OK with him, I'm skeptical they'd be throwing this deep pass to Mike.
I still want to hear a lot more from Obama about a lot of things, but Bloomy sticking his finger to the wind gives my paranoid mind some strange comfort. Someone somewhere is worried methinks. And I like that.
