What complete and utter bullshit.
As long as there is a subpoena or warrant, the enforcement of that, ought not be any different than any other person being subpoenaed before a congressional committee.
To give the President special rights is wrong.
It has been, and it will continue to be.
It will be just as wrong when the next Democratic President does it, if there should be one.
That's why I say we ought to create a pledge for the candidates to sign, much like the tax payers pledge thingy.
It will be a moment of truth. Either they will have to defend executive privilege and come out in favor of it, or they will have to recognize what evils it has brought to our country and come out against it.
"If I should be elected President of the United States of America, I shall not claim executive privilege or any other term synonymous with that one, if I should be subpoenaed by a Congressional committee or if it should be necessary for a civil or criminal investigation of myself or my administration.
This is not to be construed to be a pledge to give up the normal rights of an American citizen to due process under the United States Constitution, it is only a pledge to refuse to claim executive privilege."
