Ann Coulter Loses It, Calls Elizabeth Edwards A "Harridan"
what the hell is a "harridan"?

Boy, it looks like the pressure from Elizabeth Edwards is really getting to Ann Coulter. Seems to be really rattling her badly. Give this a watch, from MSNBC this morning:

1. The dictionary defines harridan as...
"a thin, worn-out horse, large, gaunt woman."

Things that make you go "hmm."

I just cannot believe it.

I think it is just another lie typical of the RW.

"I used to be a Democrat, but I support Bush 100%" is a line MANY of us have gotten used to hearing on the Washington Journal Republican line.

I have seen no evidence aside from her obnoxious participation in a VH-1 program.

34. And this is exactly why...
Edited on Thu Jun-28-07 01:31 PM by ljm2002
...we need to keep pressing people like her whenever they make their disgusting remarks.

They really can dish it out but not take it. I've seen her lose it before but this is the best so far -- showing herself for what she really is, which can only work to our advantage.

Now if only the interviewers will start asking each Republican they have on their show, "Do you or do you not agree with Ann Coulter's remarks?" (I know, I know, fat chance) But if we can get even one or two to do so, it will help. Because not only will it put the subjects on the spot, it will annoy Ann even more, at which point she will go even farther around the bend than she already is. And that can only be a good thing -- really she belongs in a loony bin anyway, a straitjacket would do her good (I suppose a muzzle is out of the question).

Oh and also, did you see Bush's brief statement when the immigration bill went down to flaming defeat? The man is near to cracking himself (and I don't generally say that, much as I have wished it to be true). So again: let's all keep applying the pressure and encourage all of our representatives and senators to do the same.

I really, really want to see this administration go down in flames. And it is not an irrational wish on my part -- not due to some unreasoning "anger" and "hatred" as the right wants to think about all of who hate Bush and gang and what they have done to our country. It is very rational. The harder they fall, the more of their republic colleagues they take with them, and the more their "brand" is destroyed.

(edited to add comments on Bush)

38. So, should MSNBC change it's name to The Ann Coulter Show?
Perhaps Hilton and Coulter could have a cage match! Apparently it's Joe Scarborough's job to soothe the beast and kiss her despicable behind. I can't believe that she is given such a platform and validation. I would have thought MSNBC had more integrity that that, but *sigh*, it appears that Dan Abrams had decided to go the route of Faux News and not by the standards upheld by Olbermann.

42. Reposted from another thread
The only person I have seen take heat over the exchange is Elizabeth Edwards. On some morning news show today (can't remember which) she was lambasted with questions about fundraising on Ann Coulter, John Edwards calling poor Ann a name, and how Elizabeth is supposed to be above this thing and only makes Ann stronger. It really got to me how many hard, leading questions Elizabeth was asked on this morning news show. She was made out by the reporter to be an instigator, not a person trying to prevent poison in our political discourse.

What heat has Ann taken?

I am beginning to think that this whole "put Ann on for an hour" on MSNBC was designed specifically to generate a political sideshow that can be used to trash a Democratic Presidential candidate and distract from the serious news at the same time. If the call didn't come in, Ann would have been sure to generate another Edwards-specific comment to get the media in a tizzy.

I refuse to believe that the media's endless monkeywrenching of Democratic efforts is the effect of coincidence or blindly following ratings. Any idiot would know that an hour of Ann Coulter is good for a week of "OMG smart Ann said something and look at the Democrats over-react!! They're having a meltdown!!!"

Then there is the false-equivalency of Bill Mahr = Ann Coulter, which obfuscates the definition of political lines in this country (intentionally so). Bill Mahr is not a Democrat and he is not a liberal....not even close on either count. But Ann certainly is Republican, and she certainly is conservative, and I would wager partially-funded by Republicans (probably through front-companies).

This media event, to me, was staged to give opportunity for all of these things. As long as we don't talk about Iraq and we don't talk about the lawlessness and the results of the on-going investigations on the Hill they'll put on whatever the hell they damned-well please. Like "Network", if they want controversy, they'll whip some up. And if Democrats get smeared and liberals get made the equivalent to hate-speechers and infantilized comedians, then that is a bonus. After all, it only costs the reputation of an obviously moribud hag who drinks too much, eats too little, and cannot help but to spew bile whenever she thinks anyone is playing attention.
