Slampoet made an excellent point about Romney and the dog:
Romney told the story on himself about putting his dog into a carrier and lashing the carrier to the roof rack for family trips (that's trips, plural). On at least one 12 hour trip from Massachusetts to Ontario, the dog defecated all over the car's roof and back window. Romney responded "coolly" to this crisis by hosing off the dog and the car.
Slampoet's question:
Just how did Romney move a dog back and forth across the Canadian border? Did he have all the papers ready? Why didn't US or Canadian border guards ever object to the manner in which the dog was being transported?
... is this happened almost 25 years ago... laws were a bit different back then. While this is almost assuradly agsinst the law now, I would bet it wasn't then. Hell back then it wasn't against the law to have a basinet in the front seat of the car let alone what you do with a dog.
2. True that about kids; but I can't imagine cops even back then letting someone put a dog on a car

roof; and despite what I've been reading by Romney defenders on other blogs, putting a dog in a carrying case on a car roof is not the same as letting a dog hang its head out the window or ride in the back of a pick-up.
