Camp Casey sends paper plates to Nancy Pelosi

We have been writing messages on Paper plates telling Pelosi to put impeachment back on the table. These are some of the plates we did today.

7. What a great idea!
Let's do it folks! BTW, how should we mail these, to cause the least grief to postal carriers/bomb squads/clerical staff. I want to make a statement, not cause a panic.

Kicking this for the morning crew.

8. It is a STELLAR idea! I'd think all you'd have to do is address one side

and apply the proper postage, and put your message on the other side.

Nothing wrapped up that has to go through any metal detectors or sniffer-dogs, no need to open it up and check it further, and there's nothing to it that might arouse suspicion. Very straightforward. The contents are out there in the open for anyone to see, and it's obvious there's nothing threatening to anyone. Hell, you can't even get a paper cut from a paper plate. I've heard that the post office will deliver anything as long as it has the proper postage affixed.

Another good thing - if it's out in the open for anyone to see, imagine how many eyes will see your message as it passes from handler to handler on its way to her office. I've read that conventional snail mail takes weeks to reach Congressional recipients. Since the anthrax scare, all snail mail is held and inspected before it's sent on. We need her to get these sooner than later.

And don't forget THIS, either: I think a big problem with our reps is that they're still card-carrying members of the Tight Sphincter Club. Many of 'em are scared to stick their toes into this pool - for fear the water will either be boiling hot or frozen, or won't be water but rather sulfuric acid or something. They're scared even to entertain the notion of IMPEACHMENT. They're afraid of what it'll do to their reelection prospects, or that they'll somehow screw the party, or that people will get mad, or that rove or cheney will retaliate, or that the Tooth Fairy will yank all their teeth out, or that the hate-radio machinery or bill orally will say something nasty about them.

I think a lot of these people need to be given permission to think IMPEACHMENT. To dare to entertain the thought. To go ahead and look at it and consider it. That it's okay to do so, and nobody's gonna bite their heads off. I think somebody needs to get through to them that the ice is already broken. That it's safe to proceed. The coast is a lot more clear than they realize. You know how it was in school and you were hesitant to raise your hand or volunteeer for something or stand up and be counted because you thought you'd be the only one and you'd look like an idiot or people would laugh at you or condemn you or desert you because you stuck your neck out ALONE on something nobody else was into? And then, maybe somebody's hand finally DID go up, and all of a sudden, LOTS more hands went up. It was because once the first person stuck his or her neck out a little bit, others lost their fear or hesitation. It became okay to raise their hands and let themselves be counted.

I found a good post I kept in my good quotes file from DUer marmar - a really good illustration of this idea:

Who will be our brave blade of grass? ..... More wisdom from Howard Zinn:
"People are practical. They want change but feel powerless, alone, do not want to be the blade of grass that

sticks up above the others and is cut down. They wait for a sign from someone else who will make the first move, or

the second. And at certain times in history, there are intrepid people who take the risk that if they make that

first move others will follow quickly enough to prevent their being cut down. And if we understand this, we might

make that first move."

Longwinded way of saying - WE should be our OWN brave blade of grass. WE should lead. WE should let our reps know that it's okay to make that move. The public is ready for it. The idea's out there now in the public domain and it's no longer verboten. People are going to be growing more accustomed to it, more at ease with it, and more willing to go there as it fully sinks in that this so-called president and his vice are TOXIC to our nation's future and its wellbeing, and can't be allowed to continue. And it's going to be coming up in conversation more and more frequently by the day.

Our reps need to know it's okay to go there. To go to IMPEACHMENT. And that it won't bite. Hell, quite the opposite. It'll prove our Dems finally, really DO have backbone. And balls.

11. By George, she's got it!
That would work brilliantly! I once belonged to a crafts group that did "bottle exchanges" on holidays: each member would cut open a slit in the side of a clear 2-liter plastic bottle, stuff it with small goodies, re-seal it with tape, slap on a mailing label, and mail it without further wrapping. Our bottles always got through, even at the height of the anthrax hysteria (I guess no one suspected bottles full of yarn, buttons, cloth swatches, lace, sequins, beads, quilt patterns, iron-on patches and silk flowers of being harmful devices).

And I expect we'd save on some postage, too.

47. On top of that, if it was a clear bottle, you could see what's inside it.
No secrets. Everything out in the open - HMMMM... kinda like how our government is supposed to be, isn't it? Not surprised they got through. They were - um - CLEARLY ( ;> ) - not a threat. Postcards are good, too. Again, because it's a no-brainer that they're not a threat, nothing concealed in there that could be evil. Nothing to hide.

Good!

Let's do the paper plates, guys!

pretty simple and I would suspect real effective. Madam Speaker here is your plates now go set the table and they'll be no need for silverware, we'll just eat with our hands its messier that way afterall we want it to look like someone has been here and has done something. ;-):hi:

add: I was a postal clerk in the navy and IIRC as long as it isn't too big and has the proper address and postage on it it will go through.

32. Paper Plates for a Paper Tiger
I'm going to make a prediction here -- Nancy Pelosi, judging by her actions as Speaker of the House since the very beginning of her term, will not do one damn thing other than enable these criminals in Washington.

Incredibly she's the one who took out --took back-- the clause that CONGRESS is the enity that declares war and again gave Chimpy carte blanche to arbitrarily and preemptively attack any country (the latest: Iran) he damn well feels like!

And BOY does he feel like it!

And that's only one of the many, many pro-Republican, anti-Democratic things she's done since becoming Speaker of the House.
It's Alice-through-the-Looking-Glass mindboggling.

On top of that -- we never, ever hear WHY Ms. Pelosi makes any of these confounding, bass-ackwards "contributions" which solely benefit the Republican Party!
Oh, and joltin' Joe LIEberman too!

In fact, as in the case of her redaction of the Congress' war powers just a few weeks ago, most people --even, incredibly, here-- did not even know it was she who removed the clause reasserting Chimpy's professed, imagined, bellicose 'decidership' conferred unto him by God Himself.

I don't know what it is about Pelosi and the country, the Dem's and DU itself; but her, her opinions and her decisions are rarely discussed, and even then it is fleeting. Within the Democratic Party she rarely if ever is discussed, let alone criticized, even to a minor degree. Whenever I have brought up these many decisions which run contrary to not only Democratic wishes and philosophies but to the ideals of the great majority of Americans they have been virtually ignored.

WHY?? (Ignore me if you want, but not these valid concerns.)

I may be a dyed-in-the-wool feminist, but dammit I don't care that it's a woman -- absolutely no-one is so righteous they are immune to (especially rightful) criticism. She, apparently intentionally (whether on her own or at the behest of the Democratic Leadership's machinations, who can say?) behaves as secretively as Darth Cheney and equally as unwilling to explain herself. Bottom line, female Speaker or no female Speaker, first or Nth, if she's not doing her job, which is to act on behalf of the PEOPLE, then for God's sakes shitcan her and get somebody in there --*gasp* even a male!-- who bloody well will!

Mark well my words: if we do not deal with this, and soon, we will greatly regret giving her so many free passes on so very many vital, literally life-and-death issues. Otherwise, worse than pissing into the wind, our millions and billions of heartfelt words and petitions and even our protests (albeit none yet against her own august self!) are at the least a total waste of time, effort and emotion.

Nancy Pelosi is doing nothing for the cause of Truth and Justice.

59. Another good idea ruined by people who are crazy, based on some of the plates
