KABUL - Security forces killed more than 30 Taleban with air and ground attacks, the US-led coalition said Saturday, in the latest burst of fighting against an intensifying Islamist insurgency in Afghanistan.

The battle erupted in the southwestern province of Farah on Friday when militants ambushed Afghan police and soldiers with rocket-propelled grenades and gunfire, the force said in a statement.

The security forces retaliated and �killed over 30 insurgent fighters with accurate small arms fire and precision air strikes.�

The coalition, which is helping Afghan security forces beat back the five-year-old insurgency, said it had no reports that civilians were affected by the fighting.

without stopping and giving thought to the fact we made them terrorist in the first place with our actions dating back years and years

And are you of the impression that the Taliban are some harmless bunch of angry kids who, if simply left alone, would be playing soccer and smoking hookah? These are militant, West hating bastards who abuse their women and destroyed their country. And, they openly and defiantly housed Osama bin Laden -- or has he become a sympathetic character, too?

3. You're forgetting that the US funded,

armed and trained the taliban. Jimmy Carter, at the urging of Berezinski, signed the taliban into being in June, 1979, by presidential order...long before the Russians invaded Afghanistan. It was, in fact, to tempt Russia to spend resources in Afghanistan, according to Berezinski himself.

The taliban is an American creation, as are the warlords in Afghanistan. If the US had stayed to hell out of the district, it wouldn't be in quite such a mess.

4. I am quite of aware of the history of the Taliban. Perhaps you could remind the author of the OP.

He's the one who seems to think that they're an insurgency populated exclusively by young teenagers.
