President of the UN or just keep on keeping on with what he is doing. I would love to see him as President of the USA and/or as President of the UN but I truly think he will do more for the world doing just what he is. As an individual he has more credibility and so naturally more trust of the people. He is shaking up the world in ways Bush* and the GOP could only dream of. Politicians just don't have the credibility necessary IMO to create actual change.

1. What he's doing.
I think he's effecting more change and influencing more people doing exactly what he's doing right now.

Being president involves too many other duties. It would scatter his energies and his focus, despite having the "bully pulpit," and would dilute his effectiveness.

Keep on doing what you're doing Al!

6. There is no "President of the UN"
If you mean Secretary General, the President of the US has far more power and effect on the world.

Al Gore could do an immense amount of good for the world as President of the US than in any other conceivable position, and certainly more than he can do as a public figure trying to influence public opinion.

9. He couldn't be Secretary General of the UN anyway...
That spot always comes from a country that isn't on the Security Council.

7. He may be the best person to do what he's doing,
but as U. S. President he could do more to counter the corporate energy-monsters than _any_ movement he's leading as a private citizen.
