So, Bush Admin Frees Convicted WH Criminal; Rejects Supoenas; Subverts Democracy: YET NO IMPEACHMENT
Sorry 'bout my impeachment kick lately but really, does this make any sense? When John Dean said this was worse than watergate, he wasn't kidding. Nixon denied being a criminal. Bush and Cheney not only admit their illegalities, but flaunt it in the face of Congress and the American people. "Yeah we did that, whatcha gonna do about it?"

How can they reject supoenas? First they rejected the one for Condi Rice, now they are rejecting it for Harriet Miers and Sara Taylor. That is blatant in your face arrogance and illegality.

How can they wiretap with impunity (including journalists)? How can the VP claim he is not a part of the executive branch and claim himself above our government?

WHAT WILL IT TAKE TO WAKE UP THE CONGRESS AND SEE THE DEMISE OF OUR COUNTRY AND IMMEDIATELY IMPEACH THESE LAWBREAKERS?

If they don't impeach soon, I will begin to lament the destruction of our democracy because that is essentially what we are looking at, and nothing less.

4. Hi lc!
:hi:

30 years ago, Bush/Cheney would've been flying out on their respective helicopters to obscurity. I guess those days are over (and Good Times is no longer the #1 show, eh? ;))

2. What do you suppose the chances of that would be if bu$h were a Democrat?
We spent 8 years investigating and trying to impeach for crimes that didn't exist and then 8 years doing the crimes without seeing any impeachment. Go figure?

7. 22 Republican Senators are up for reelection in 2008.
A few intend to retire, but most want to keep their fat, soft asses on their seats.

Target them. Call them, harass them, tell them to change their viewpoints or they'll be tossed out of office. Get your friends to call them, email them, fax them.

They are running scared. But so far, not as many people are yelling at them as they are the Democratic leadership. Those guys aren't gonna do squat a second before they absolutely HAVE to.

Lugar got the message. Others can, too.

Add our bunch to their bunch, and we've got critical mass.

Until then, and unless they join us, we DO NOT have the VOTES.

That's the problem.

8. That's What Will Get Bush Impeached
Once the Rethugs start the process, the Dems will have to go along.

9. It'll be symbiotic, if anything.
They'll feed on one another. Bounce it back and forth. Share credit, and share blame, depending on how "history" views the process.

Nixon wouldn't have tossed in the towel, no matter how hard the Democrats pressed, if he thought he had the votes to push back. He might not have been convinced of how badly he'd been abandoned had it not been for Goldwater and pals--they went to him, and told him, straight up, that he didn't have the votes to hold back that two thirds. They gave him a name-by-name count of the "with me" or "agin' me" crowd. And way too many of his old pals, notwithstanding the fact that he was a former senator AND a former President of the Senate as VP under Ike, were agin' him.

22 GOP Senate seats. Now that's something to work on...and one thing Senators of all stripes aren't, is stupid. They all know what role Goldwater played in the Nixon business. His name is in the history books, and in a big way--in many respects, that business of persuading Nixon to resign was more substantial than his presidential run.

And those Senators, they do like having their place in history....
