Kucinich: 'Imperial' vice president needs to be impeached
David Edwards and Nick Juliano
Published: Monday July 9, 2007

Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, continued to stress his case for impeaching Vice President Dick Cheney, saying his role in pushing the false case for war is akin to a high crime against the constitution.

"To me it's about the constitution, it's not about the personality," Kucinich said Monday morning on Joe Scarborough's MSNBC show. "And the constitution requires the highest office holders to have the highest standards and obedience to the law, and I think serious questions have been raised, which is why I introduced the resolution."

Kucinich predicted more members of Congress would join his impeachment push after a poll showed last week that a majority of Americans support the vice president's impeachment, as RAW STORY previously reported.

The long-shot presidential candidate reminded Scarborough that he was among 31 Democrats who supported inquiries that led to former President Bill Clinton's impeachment in pointing out that partisan motives were not behind his current push.

7. Welcome to DU! I'm feeling that we've gotta work like hell toward that.
Pushing Nancy is going to be some job. Job ONE, I think.

We'll see how the outrage they faced last week on the home front translates this week when they have a chance to start doing something about it.

8. Kucinich, you're such a kook! ZOMG!
You're consistently proven right on nearly every major issue month after month, your positions are typically shared by a majority of Americans regardless of political affiliation, but the media tells us the truth, Dennis - you are sooooo looney! You could never be elected because you're such a fringe goofball! /sarcasm off.

9. K&R "Other Democratic Presidential candidates oppose it"

"More than half of Americans support Kucinich’s call to impeach Cheney, poll shows

Other Democratic Presidential candidates oppose it

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Friday, July 06, 2007

CLEVELAND, OH – More than half of all Americans support bringing Articles of Impeachment against Vice President Dick Cheney, according to a poll released today. Articles of Impeachment were filed in April by Ohio Congressman and Democratic Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich, and it has 14 co-sponsors...

When he introduced his bill (H.R. 333), Kucinich said, "The Vice President actively and systematically sought to deceive the citizens and Congress about an alleged threat of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction. He has purposely manipulated the intelligence process to deceive us about the relationship between Iraq and al Qaeda. And he openly lied to the America people and has publicly threatened aggression against Iran."

Kucinich also said at the time that he was acting in "response to the concerns of millions of Americans who have felt that the Vice President must be accountable for his false statements." The poll results appear to prove he was right. None of the other Democratic Presidential candidates has expressed support for Kucinich's bill.

"It's not a happy day when most Americans believe that the Vice President of the United States lied, deceived, misled the American people and violated his oath to uphold the U.S. Constitution -- not to mention the other actions and abuses that are beginning to attract Congressional attention," Kucinich said. "But," he added, "every elected official in this nation, especially the highest elected officials, must be held accountable for their actions; and impeachment is the Constitutional mechanism to hold the Vice President accountable and to protect our democracy."

10. Great Video at the rawstory link...thanks for posting
"I went to the NY Times in the last campaign and the editorial board there...it was as if anyone who asserted that there was a question about the war was an idiot. And the fact of the matter is that I hope the NYT has learned some lessons about the dangers of editorial arrogance and about the role that they have to take and the responsibility they have to take for not properly asking the right questions at the right time. And you know what, we need to be asking those questions about Iran right now, because the same drumbeat for war that took us falsely into war against Iraq, is a drumbeat going on for war against Iran and we should be very concerned about that."

And I guess anyone questioning the Iran intelligence now is also an idiot. :banghead:
