Saxby Chambliss's Response on Healthcare
Of course, it's a form letter --

Thank you for contacting me regarding your concerns about health insurance. It is good to hear from you.

The number of uninsured Americans continues to rise along with the premiums and out-of-pocket expenses incurred by insured consumers. We in Congress need to address this problem by searching for effective ways to expand access to adequate, affordable medical insurance coverage.

I support health care reform to protect patients and make health care coverage more affordable and accessible. To reduce the skyrocketing cost of health care, we need medical malpractice reform. We need to root out the waste, fraud, and abuse that currently plagues today's health care system, and we need to expand the use of Medical Savings Accounts to give individuals more control over their medical decisions and the ability to pay for rising health care costs. The Medicare Prescription Drug plan (P.L. 108-173) is a step in the right direction, creating an affordable prescription drug benefit and new Health Savings Accounts to pay for qualified medical expenses.

The creation of Association Health Plans ( AHPs ) was addressed during the 109 th Congress in S. 406, the " Small Business Health Fairness Act of 2005 ," which was introduced on February 16, 2005, and was referred to the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP). This bill was intended to assist small business employers in offering health insurance as a benefit to their workers by establishing AHPs and other programs aimed at reducing the difficulties and hindrances that they face in securing these benefits for employees. However, at the expiration of the 109 th Congress, S. 406 was still in Committee, and thus the bill died.

Ensuring that all Americans have equal access to the best and most affordable health care in the world will continue to be one of my top priorities as your United States Senator. It is my hope that my colleagues and I in the 110 th Congress can work together to enact meaningful legislation that will address the current upward spiral in health insurance costs.

Thank you again for taking the time to contact me as always I appreciate hearing from you. In the meantime, if you would like to receive timely email alerts regarding the latest congressional actions and my weekly e-newsletter, please sign up via my web site at: www.chambliss.senate.gov .

6. Chambliss was elected by Diebold in 02.
Max Cleland defeated him handily I feel sure. Cleland was up by about 7 points in the pre-election polling (Atlanta Journal poll in concert with some polling agency) I believe 4 days before the election. Then, he presumably lost by about 5 points. You figure the flip. The news reports suggest it was 12 or 13 points. I personally don't believe that's possible.

Cleland won that election, as did Roy Barnes, the Dem running for Gov. Barnes was up by about 11 points 4 days before the election and lost by about 5 points, a 16-point flip. In 02 all votes in GA were counted by Diebold in their black boxes without even any paper to recount if a recount had been called for.

The exit polls strangely were taken off the IT very soon supposedly because of some flaw in the process. I doubt that too. The flaw was probably that the results were so outlandlishly different from the machine result that the pollsters decided to claim they made some mistake and quit showing the exit poll results.

This was the year that American officially lost its status as a democracy. It has only gotten worse since then.
