So yesterday I get flamed to no end for this post...
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=1285071&mesg_id=1285071

And no sooner do I jump in my car and flip on Randi Rhodes do I hear her saying the same exact thing I was calling for. The impeachment now for moron* regardless of the votes. It's about having the balls to stand up for what is right, not what is safe.

Damn right I feel vindicated.

You may continue to flame me, but I will now sit right here with that smug little smile on my face. Thank you very much Randi!! lol

If anyone else heard this, please, by all means, chime in!

it's happened to me on several occasions. You saw that yesterday in Michael Moore's frustration with CNN...it's so horrible to be right and everyone calls you an asshole, and then, when you're proven correct, everyone jumps on the bandwagon like it was their idea...

6. Randi Isn't Always 100% Rational Either, Ya Know.
Sit there as smug as ya want. But I find it quite humorous that you can feel so smug and vindicated solely due to the fact that Randi said so. Is Randi some God now?

Randi also believes in MIHOP right? Guess all the loony Mihop'ers should be all smug and vindicated too, no?

You are too funny.

15. willful ignorance on your part is what keeps things from moving forward
until we force our elected officials to do their job, I can bet you a year from not nothing will have happened.

Damn right I'm smug and I know Randi isn't always 100% right, but she and I are right about this.

It has nothing to do with the votes. it has everything to do with what is morally and ethically right.

We will never have the votes in the senate so what should stop us from trying??? answer me that?

19. "We will never have the votes in the senate "
"so what should stop us from trying??? "

Common sense.

But putting that aside, it's so easy for the radicals to just spout out the whole 'Impeach now!!!!' meme. But tell me, what exactly do you see it accomplishing? What exactly do you see changing because of it? What ills of the world as we find ourselves in now do you see being overcome by such an act? Tell me. Actually think about it and reason. What is this monumental turnaround you expect to occur with a failed impeachment process? I'm curious.

23. Randi Rhodes believes in MIHOP?
That's news to me. I remember specifically a few callers that were cut off by her for suggesting MIHOP.

She regularly berates callers for not having the facts to back up their accusations and she's said more than once that there's no evidence for a 9/11 conspiracy, so she won't talk about it.

24. Hmmm. I Wonder If She's Changed Her Point Of View.
I remember last year or maybe longer, she spent a huge amount of time condoning and exploring 9/11 conspiracy theories dealing with MIHOP. Not just talking about them, but actually siding with them. Maybe she's turned away from it?

26. There are some aspects that she talks about
She repeatedly mentions the "planes doing 180 degree turns for an hour", but always ascribes that to gross negligence, not a conspiracy.

9. I think that the Evil Bastard Cheney needs to be impeached first.
Anything that can be done to get KKKarl Rove out of the White House
should be next. With those 2, you wipe out Bush's power base and then
you can take out the lame duck with ease.

Impeach now the sooner the better and get rid of the whole nest of rats. For example having no Attorney General is better than the idiot who currently occupies the office.

14. Impeachment proceedings probably won't get rid of any of them
but there will be a record for future generations, if there are any, that the people who represented We The People, tried to do what was right and at least it will besmirch these villans legacies.

11. Impeachment is the only thing Congress can do...
that the Republicans can't tie up.

I've heard people say that the impeachment proceedings will prevent Congress from doing its work. But it can't do anything now. Attempts to stop the war, reform health care, investigate justice, etc. have been stalled. Maybe Republicans will bargain on this, in lieu of proceedings.

it's not about her being right.

It's what she said.

It's not about having the votes in the senate, we will never have the votes in the senate. It's about doing what is morally right and ethical.

if we wait, time runs out.

as long as they keep impeachment off the table then what the hell is the point???

20. I know we do not have the numbers but this is about
more than numbers. This is about hope... The hope that we as a democracy will survive the mess this country is in... If we do nothing, not only do we deny that hope, we show the entire world we sat idly by because we did not have the numbers....

You can't succeed if you don't try... You will never know if you don't try....

25. He CAN be impeached but not removed from office
If the house of representatives vote to impeach him HE IS. If it is sent to the Senate and they don't vote to have him removed from office or whatever than he isn't. BUT he is still impeached.

28. Well, we'll flame Randi too
Why does having the balls trump all common sense, too? It may not be lack of balls, but following the rules, but even if there is temerity, why is that so wrong that things should be done to prove having balls whether they are good things or not?

Life is not about proving to others that we are courageous, regardless of the consequences to ourselves and others.

If it were, you'd be in favor of the Iraq war. Isn't that about proving we have "the balls?" That's what it is to rethugs. For whom life is just a testosterone contest, the consequences be damned.

As many have pointed out, it took a while for Watergate to be prosecuted too. It takes a while to gather evidence. You're like the victim/media who bothers the prosecutor to proceed before the investigation is reasonably complete - that could end in disaster, not having a good case where they could have had one if they had just not caved to the impatience - then ending in acquittal (for which, of course, the prosecutor is then blamed).

The right plays very dirty. The Democrats in Congress not only have to get good evidence, they have to look at their own histories to help meet the inevitable personal attacks. You know damn well the right is going to make this about Pelosi and her personal flaws and that the MSM will cooperate. That will extend to others in Congress.

33. My republican mother wants them impeached, removed from office
and strung up by their scrotal sacks, and she is no "radical", "far left lunatic" or the other names that are flung out when this and some other subjects are brought up for discussion.

She's sick of the lying, corruption, and the costs in lives and treasure that resulted from their lying about Iraq. I'm not exactly sure when this transformation began. She was spitting nails about Frist during the Schiavo display, and when Bush** flew back to get involved she was furious with him, too. Stem cell research, the disgusting neglect during Katrina, the commutation of Libby, a lot of things have come together and she is furious and practically spits at rwingers who try to defend all of this. She isn't the only repub I know who is sick of it all.

A couple of weeks ago she brought up impeachment and we talked about it. She mentioned that "Bill Clinton was impeached for much less than what this gang has done." When I mentioned impeached but not removed from office, she replied, "Bush** and Cheney and Gonzales all need to be impeached, removed from office and then tried." When I mentioned the lack of votes in the Senate she mentioned, "We'll have a clear record of the votes then won't we?" Then she started railing about Saxby Chambliss and that if impeachment ever got to that point that he'd better vote to do the right thing and not to help cover all of this up and let them get away with what they've done.

I don't understand why it seems so difficult for some to accept that not everyone who wants impeachment is a lefty, far lefty, there have to be some republicans with extreme buyer's remorse, along with indies for polling to be done on the subject and for the numbers to be higher in favor of it.

Sorry you got flamed. :hi:
