vitter, the latest family values blowhard hiding deep sins, has of course stated that his wife and God have forgiven him for his sins, and after all is said and done, God trumps all man's laws. If we the American people won't forgive republicans when they are caught sinning, at least God will right?

It never fails, they start waving bibles around like they were cheap Chinese American flags at a nine eleven celebration, but only of course after being caught sin handed.

The typical Repugnican modus operendi...and the complicit corporate media enabling the way.

Foley gets nailed for texting messsages to male pages...the story breaks on a Thursday, he quietly resigns Friday and slips out of town. Not a word from him then, not a word since. There are still a ton of questions about tis scandal that haven't been resolved...like Gym Teach Denny's involvement...but the corporate media forgot it like a bad date. There hasn't even been a follow-up on Foley and his "rehabilitation"...or the investigations into his breaking various predator laws HE SPONSORED. Now if this had been a Kennedy....

Now we've got Vitter the Horny Critter...caught with his pants down and trying to slip away. We get the story late in the day and a parsed Press Release that appears that his "whorrin'" is now ok since he got it cleared with the wife and the "home office". All fine and dandy now. The corporate media seems to be curious, but satisfied. Who knows, he could have been lured and seduced by that evil Pamela Martin and forced into this...I'm sure there'll be some GOOP spinner out to float that one in the days ahead. And, of course...Had this been Bill Clinton...we'd have 24/7 "World In Crisis" coverage with the special music and graphics.

I'm not sure who the bigger hypocrites are here. Vitter is another GOOP con man...and fortunately those slugs glammed onto the Repugnicans and the fundies. May they all rot in their own conflicts. But something must be said of the corporate media that can't keep out of Gary Condit's garbage or John Edward's hair or dredge up scandals from ages ago to somehow give some "balance" to this charlatan.

NOT accepting this same "excuse" for Clinton back in 1998 - so the question to the Senator is why the electorate is supposed to accept this from him, when he publically denied the same acceptance of the forgiveness from family and God for then President Clinton?

They all tout their faith in the Lord when they get busted. As a Christian I am disgusted by the fact that they even mention God. I am sure it infuriates God when he sees these men try to invoke His name into their defense once they are caught. They are not Christians and, by the way, neither is George Bush.

Every day the news is filled with Republican criminals, crooks, and liars. You know as soon as the news story starts that the guy is a Republican, even if you never heard of him. You read further down the story, and sure enough, there's that "R".

The "GOP" is rotten to the core. Thank God Americans with brains are finally waking up and noticing that the Republican Party has become a nest of vipers. How anyone could tell a pollster (or anyone else) that they consider themselves a Republican at this point is beyond me. It's like admitting you're a Nazi. (A lot like it.)

as it were...is the timing. As Christians, we are taught to seek God's refuge and strength in time of persecution (not systematic necessarily) and failure (when sin has overtaken part of our life). So I have no problem with him claiming God's forgiveness and that of his wife...if he really has repented then God will forgive, according to Christian teaching. The problem with this is all in the timing. If it were to have never come out...what would have happened?
