We always make fun of freepers
who run around chanting "Support the Troops" while they, in fact, support politicians who do anything BUT support the troops.
But I got to thinking, other than writing newspapers, and supporting candidates who I believe WILL do everything they can for our men and women overseas, I really don't do anything!
I am looking for ideas from all of you! I cook and bake, although I'm not sure how well food would survive being shipped...or even if i'ts allowed. I also hear you can't send items addressed "To Any Soldier".
I am quitting my full-time job next week, and will only be working two days a week. That's leaves me lots of time to collect and mail items.
If ANYONE has ANY ideas for me, I would really appreciate it. I feel it's time to do more than bitch 24/7.
Thank you all in advance!:)

2. There are several organizations through which you can send care packages and
they will give you guidelines to follow and persons of contact to connect with.

Big tip, do not pack food and perfumed items like soap in the same box! LOL All the food will taste terrible after just a couple of days next to that stuff.

23. WWW.ANYSOLDIER.COM
will direct you how to send care packages. We sent several large shipments from our office (there's a Hello Kitty blanket being used as a car seat cover somewhere in Afghanistan). Some of the other stuff we sent was razors, good toilet paper, packs of gum, and the biggest hit was apparently Baby Wipes. Very hot summers with showers not always nearby.

3. There are people more deserving of your help than those who have chosen
to act in support of Bush and his war.

Volunteer to help the homeless in our area. Or maybe volunteer to provide food to those who are hungry. Etc.

Act locally.

12. I agree the homeless need help, also
I do disagree with your assessment of "those who act in support of Bush and his war", though. I used to manage a retail store, and one of the first people I hired when I took over was the sweetest, kindest boy you would ever hope to meet. It was his first job, and he was eager to learn and work.
Then 9/11 happened, and he quit to help "fight terrorism". The resignation letter he wrote would bring tears to your eyes. He had no idea at the time that he would end up in Bush's IRAQ shit hole. Thankfully, he is still alive, and should be coming home for a visit soon.

6. I've sent several Care package to the troops
full of personal care items, stationary, snacks (nothing that can melt), paperback books, and even dvds and music CDs.

I had a particular person to send it to (a chaplin) who made sure it got distributed to soldiers who weren't getting packages from home.

13. Apparently some of the soldiers
have those small portable DVD players so that DVDs are appreciated and they share watching the movies to try to take their minds off things, if only for a couple of hours.

Same with music CDs.

7. We sent care packages a few years back when my friend's sone was in Iraq
Food DOES survive the trip and is very welcome..

Just ask a friend who has a relative there, and witha few others, adopt their immediate unit..

I think we had about 7 soldiers..

They do appreciate it.

10. You can "adopt" a soldier.
There's a soldier in Iraq that my family sends care packages to. I forgot which program we went through, but we found out that he liked to draw so we sent him drawing pads, sketchbook, sketch pencils, etc. When I find out the service we used, I'll let you know.

11. Had they really supported "the troops" would they have gone around lying about why they went to war?
And even if they believed what they were saying, wouldn't they have been outraged when they finally found the truth? So, where's the outrage?

Freepers are evil, nasty killers. There are no people on earth who despise "the troops" more than the foul toilet travelers at Free Republic. They lie in order to support the deaths of "the troops," they do it every day, and they look for new ways of killing them at every opportunity.

The evidence is in. Nice work Freepers!

18. No argument here!
To me they are the most evil creatures on the planet. Our poor soldiers are dying every day over there, and you're right, the freeper assholes will lie through their teeth to keep them there. They (Bush, yesterday) threaten the futures of our children and grandchildren. Fucking Chertoff makes sure he comes out the SAME DAY as that stupid speech to tell us about his gut feeling.
Please, please let them get what's coming to them!!!!!:evilfrown:

19. I can't call Congress right effing now...
I'm at work (for a #*?* freeper). I'm pretending to work while I do this (it is almost my last week, so sue me freeper). It is true that I haven't given blood in quite some time.
Thank you for your suggestion! I will certainly do that...and call Congress ASAP.:hi:

20. AnySoldier.com
This is the website I've used. You can send packages to a solider in Iraq or Afghanistan. You can read their bio and wishlists then send an email to request their address.
