"Commander in Chief"
Does the incessant referral to the Chimperator by this title get under anybody else's skin as much as it does mine? Once in an argument with a 'Pub (on account of me daring to wear my t shirt w/ Bush's picture and the phrase "we are so fucked"), he told me I needed to respect my "commander and chief" (his misinterpretation, I guess). I told this jerkoff, look man he ain't my commander in chief, because I'M NOT IN THE FUCKING MILITARY! In addition, the relentless pounding of this term on the cable snews (my attempt at a pun) kills me as well. Hell, I don't even recognize him as my President....he wasn't elected. I'll forever refer to this period of history as the American Interregnum.

1. You are 100% correct
bush is only the commander in chief of the military. He is not the commander in chief of the civilian population. And like you it makes me so damn mad to hear them say that. All they have to do is read the constitution and they would know. I have been out of school for 50 years. and I still know what more about the constitution than some of these newsreaders on cable and network.

2. A co-worker told me today "the Commander in Chief" could detain Congress
militarily, and there was nothing anybody could do about it. I'm sure he would like to, by now, but I don't think the Unitary Dictatorship is quite that far along. Yet.

3. I hate that too. I'm also not in the military, so he isn't MY CIC.
Even if I were in the military, I think I'd cringe every time I heard that.

And I agree with you, TJ. I don't even recognize him as my President.
