Petition for the Resignation of David Vitter, by Louisiana Democratic Party
Edited on Fri Jul-13-07 02:37 PM by Maddy McCall
The Louisiana Democratic Party now has a petition seeking David Vitter's resignation.

Link from the LA Democrats' website: http://www.lademo.org/

Or, link directly to the petition: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/VitterResignation/

The petition

We the undersigned call for Sen. David Vitter to resign from his position with the United States Senate due to his immoral, unlawful and hypocritical behavior while serving the people of the state of Louisiana.

We are embarrassed by Mr. Vitter's behavior and his blatant disregard for his responsibilities in the Senate, for the law of the United States of America and the future of the Louisiana.

We will not tolerate the sanctimonious posturing of anyone who has campaigned on and professed to live by one moral code only to reveal that he has lied about his personal actions, which have proven to be both illegal and immoral, to his wife and family, his fellow congressmen, the people of Louisiana and all Americans across the country who believe that someone elected to a position should uphold their commitments.

Therefore, we will not stand for Mr. Vitter to continue to represent the people of Louisiana in the United States Senate and call upon him to resign immediately.

4. From what I have read, yes...
...while he was in the House, anyway: there were calls that occurred during floor votes, although it was not clear to me whether he made the calls or whether they were incoming.

7. I wonder if that would be a federal crime, with extensive statutes of limitations.

God & his wife & the Republican party --they all might forgive Vitter for his little indiscretions, but the damage he has done in the name of "Family Values" to Louisiana & the rest of the country should not be so easily overlooked.

Let him come back to Washington to clean out his desk.

6. Good for them!
As I've stated before, it's not a personal vendetta with me, but politically this man should be toasted.
