Is the GOP holding back on Free Republic?
The Freepers are having another operating fund drive. These things always go the same way. Donations putter in for a couple of weeks, never getting to 50% of the goal, then -- all of a sudden -- overnight-- all the rest of the needed money shows up and Rimjob is back in business.

I'm convinced the reason for the above is that the RNC -- which very much wants to keep Free Republic on the web -- waits to see how much the rank-and-file Freepers will first contribute, then, right as the time for the fund drive expires -- contributes whatever amount is still needed. I've watched this last minute infusion of funds happen over and over again.

Which is why I'm puzzled by the Freepers current fund-drive. It's been running over two weeks now and all they have is 35% of what they need. It's time for the GOP to step in with the rest, but so far they haven't done so.

I'll let you know when they do.

1. Tony Snow and Sean Hannity are freepers
That alone explains a lot about their funding.

2. Thanks for the hint.
It would be nice to think that despite all the stealing, the GOP is running out of money. Makes one wonder what they're doing with it:

Pumping up the stock market?
Buying out failing industries, like Chrysler?
Paying off Blackwater and Scooter Libby?
Aquiring a bolt hole in Paraguay?

3. How do you know FR is not just *claiming* the money came in?
I really doubt that the RNC gives a crap about them, at least to the point where it would cost money.

10. What they typically say
is that they have been having this fund raiser, building up dollars (slowly) and then they add in the "monthly donations" from people who do that sort of thing. It's the "monthlies" that put then over the top. Pay Pal, Visa, paper bags full of $20 bills curiously coated with white powder, you know.

Or maybe you don't know. If not, count your blessings.

6. The RNC's FEC reports are public records
If they have made a donation, it wouldn't be secret.

12. Why do keep posting that picture of Gore selling out the country during the NAFTA debate?
I like Gore, but NAFTA is a disaster and a bad dream from 1993. It's one of the most colossal blunders in the history of the Democratic Party. It has hurt both American and Mexican workers, yet enriched the pockets of a few CEOs and wealthy investors.

11. I noticed their fund drive "banner"
and it was pathetic. In addition to being full of stupidity, the site is hard to navigate and read.
Have a laugh at this: https://secure.freerepublic.com/donate/budget.
You would think with paying someone $5K a month for "system administration and programming" their site wouldn't look like dog shit.

I think I need to go :puke: and :hurts: now.

16. Not All That Close, Actually
Santa Cruz is several hours away from Modesto by car
and a lot further than that culturally.
Seems an odd place for an RNC bigwig to live.

I think Bush**'s approval rating there is about 1, and he's it.

The RNC doesn't give a fuck about FreeRepublic, any more than the DNC gives a fuck about DU.

The military base they manipulated isn't "BUYING" their bullshit, anymore.

The corporations they depended upon are being scrutinized.

AND, well,...hell,...no one trusts them, anymore, because,...they are fucking despots, out for themselves, and this country WAS SUPPOSE TO BE MORE THAN THAT.

So,...:shrug:they are losing ground because they are ALL ABOUT WIELDING THEIR OWN POWER,...and every one is getting that.

On edit: PSSST power-grubbing assholes DO NOT GET our economic engine is sustained by contentment (we're talking REAL, not the fantasy shit fed via media). People will abandon a sincking ship even while a Captain says, "I am in control".

Pfft.

I have dreams of crushing those who have taken "Nixionism" a hundred degrees further. MAY THEY CRASH AND BURN (and I would say "watch their crimes destroy their own families" except,...I know they would EXPECT their families to recover FOR them,...the fucking ultimate assholes).
