Senator John McCain has vowed to stay in the race for President, even though he is almost broke and has let go most of his staff, unless he contracts a fatal illness.
It would seem, however, that Senator McCain is just wasting his time and money. Even the freepers over at freerepublic.com, a conservative republican website, have stated their views on John McCain, and they aren't very supportive. Most of them just want him to go away. Here is a sampling of their posts:

Sen. John McCain said Friday that only “contracting a fatal disease” will cause him to drop out of the presidential race before the primaries begin,....O.K!, you have a fatal case of amnesty....

Let’s not be morbid.
I’m reminded of John Edwards, who keeps going even though his wife has a fatal disease. It must be admitted that, by all appearances, it’s what she wants.

Elaphantiasis of the ego isn't fatal, fortunately. =)
I like McCain. Don't want him to be president, but I do like him, and he served his country.

We're talking John McCain's campaign. It's deceased. It's pushing up daisies. Its metabolic processes are a matter of interest only to historians. He's pining for the fjords...well, you get the picture.
