Just asking..... about the marathon all-nighter in the senate
If I understood the announcement correctly - the senate will be in session throughout the night in order to get a vote on Iraq.

so I'm wondering how many republics have called their favorite escort service to cancel their appointments for tonight?

1. The session may not be all night

The cloture thing will only happen if the GOP filibusters the vote. If they step aside and let it pass un-filibustered, there will be no all-nighter, and Bush will just veto the thing.

That's what I'd do if I were them.

2. Then the Democrats
should keep sending it back to *, in the same form.

I can't think of any other ideas, unless they impeach.

3. That seems to be the idea
Force GOP Senators facing midterms to vote with Bush and against overwhelming public opinion...and do it again...and again...and again...etc. 22 of them are facing midterms next year, and every Iraq vote we shove at them is another brick in their electoral wall.

They'll either stand firm and get beat, or join us in a veto-proof coalition that can legislate an end to this thing.

4. I believe Senate GOP strategy is to block everything they can.
And then Junior can veto the rest. They figure there's a bigger risk the average person will catch on to their obstructionism if Junior vetoes legislation every day.

5. The Dems are forcing the repugs to filibuster...
...so that ALL THE USA can see WHO the REAL obstructionists are. That is, if the corporate media would REPORT it (the filibuster) as such...:eyes:
