There are several threads about Michael Vick in each forum

lots and lots of duplicates.

But I'm not posting this thread in order to complain about them.

I'm trying REAL hard not to pass judgment on Vick. Real hard.

If he is guilty of what he's accused of, I hope he fries in hell.

However, this state isn't exactly "brother friendly". This is why I have my guard up.

We have a 19 year old young man rotting in jail, all because he got a blow job (consensual) from a young white woman. The state is being really nasty about this particular case. If you want particulars, I'll post them.

A stay of execution was recently issued for another black man on death row. Seems some of the "witnesses" have suddenly recanted their testimony on the eve of the scheduled execution.

These are just two random examples off the top of my head.

The girl was 15, he was 17. He's been in jail for 2 years. Yes, according to both parties, it was consensual.

II have been careful to preface my comments with "alleged" and "IF"

But I think this case is a little different from the ones you cite.

I've been following this story since it borke and what's interesting is that I have heard both the local head of the humane society in that area and the national head of the humane society say that they have had heard about his involvement in this activity for quite some time and actually had trouble getting investigators to look into it.

This just has a different "feel" to it. In my gut, I know what I feel but you're right. Stranger things have happened. But that's why I'm not to thrilled about all of the people who are stating just flat out that this is a race-based set up. I didn't make one post in the Duke threads because it just didn't smell right. This doesn't have that smell of uncertainity. Maybe he didn't do everything that is being alleged. But he was involved in some level.

One thing he certainly is guilty of is being a major league dumbass. He has a $130 million dollar NFL contract and he's hustling $500 dog fights like the neighborhood drug kingpin.

And, if this all turns out to be true, that's the least of his transgressions.

The real travesty is that we have to even ASK whether something is racially motivated or not, when these sorts of things come up.
