I missed KO's statement this evening, but it sounds as though HE gets it. It's time to start hitting back and hitting hard, not allowing the Repugs and their ilk to control the dialogue. They've had it for far too long, letting the likes of Ann Coulter and Michelle Malkin off leash on occasion to spew their hateful rhetoric just long enough to make the average crazy wanker in the GOP seem relatively sane by comparison.
We don't have those kinds of attack dogs. Or, perhaps, it's US who are the attack dogs. We're not as visible as Coulter or Malkin (wonder why THAT is?) but we've got the larger numbers. We have some excellent writers here who stick it to the Powers-That-Be and the GOP on a regular basis. I'm not even the best of the lot, though I wouldn't put myself at the bottom either.
The trick isn't to throw as many blows as possible, but to strike strategically, like a martial artist trained to go for the weakest points on the adversary's body. And no one can say the GOP and its apologists don't have weak points. They've got more than our side does.
The difference? They don't duck and cover them, trusting their stiff spines and blazing eyes to hide when they're hit. The left has a tendency to guard its weak points too closely, and flinch away from attacks that might hurt it rather than rolling with the punch and using it to power a counter-attack.
No flailing. Hit hard, hit straight, and keep hitting until they fall down.
It's the same thing I say about using the martial arts, to be honest. Screw all the dancing around and fancy stuff. Hit hard, hit the weakest targets, and keep going until the opponent falls down. Don't back off because they scream "no fair!"
Ain't no such thing as fair in a fight for your life. And if you're in a fight that ISN'T for your life, you've made a mistake somewhere.
Make no mistake here. This fight is for OUR lives, the lives of our children, and the lives of our neighbors. This is not time to go soft.
