I want to give up
I have to admit, I'm honestly beginning to wonder if they're going to try to cancel the '08 elections, though they tried that in '04 and it backfired. And, I've tried for since 2004 to fix the * problem. I expected the 109th to rubberstamp, but I sure didn't expect the 110th to appear to cower in the corner like they're doing now. I at least know that I tried, but this is depressing. I either need another push or something.

1. Get a brain. There is a concerted psychological campaign to spread despair to political activists
One way to dis-empower people is psychologically. This includes making them think their actions or votes are meaningless.

You either are susceptible, or working on the effort.

2. Agreed.
Makes no damn sense, and it's becoming laughable.

9. And it is organized and paid for.
To discredit, intimidate and even results in violence.

My neighbor who is involved with my Condo fight was accused by
the management of being an abuser of her children.

She has no children.
Me?..........don't want to even talk about it
that would be Lounge talk.

13. I don't disagree with your premise
Actually, I agree. However, I think you'd have more of the effect you desired on the OP if you didn't use "get a brain" in the header.

I love your posts and I know you're highly political and intelligent. I'm not bashing you in anyway. It's just the type of phrase that can rub a person the wrong way and cause them to not see the wisdom that follows.

20. Righto.. Their problem: We are the ones with the brains!
This is not to say that the psy campaigns do not have impact. They really do and it is obvious here on DU. So do campaigns attempting just the opposite. One good political concert like a Live Earth event can wipe out years of effort to bum people out.

We need to run huge energizing events with a positive impact. I'd like to see non-candidates Gore or RFK Jr. doing mega-concerts, for example.

5. Consider this a push, then
We're winning here, gradually but inexorably. Perhaps we just don't know it yet.

Hang in there!

7. Giving up means that they win,
this is what they want us to do. We can't, the fight is going to be a long one, far more than a few election cycles. I'll fight till I die.

16. Exactly! Take inspiration from Ghandi
"First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win."

The bastards are on the run. They're throwing everything they can at keeping their position. They've lost their base and they'll be losing their battle to destroy this country soon enough. Now is not the time to quit. We're winning.

17. Don't you know about the YIn and the Yang of it all, yet?
Surely you have seen, in your own life, that the point where are you most certain of giving up signifies the place where you are potentially ready for a practical and dramatic change or transition.

I have tried to tell many here that your utter dejection, total disgust, and absolute disillusionment is a valuable and meaningful sign that indicates a very positive and productive transition. While those ideas may be more Eastern in flavor, the stand in direct contrast to the linear machinations of causality and finality. What comes around, goes around, in my estimation.

In the West, is has been said that it is always darkest before the dawn. That would, in an earlier context, be the most officiant way to to reflect you that where you are is not only perfectly natural and ordinary, it is a place that is pregnant with nothing but joyful growth and enviable possibilities. In that case, what matters most is not your abject misery or confusion in your current state, but what will you do with it and how will you act.

From there, we can only wonder if we will envy your actions to the point of emulating you bravely, or do we bemoan your fate and be required to commiserate with your results, while taking solace in that as we consider our own failure to acheive results?

22. Why would they cancel? All systems are a go on the following.
Edited on Sun Jul-22-07 01:14 PM by Neshanic
Panic and general mayhem will be the order of the day come this fall. After the collapse of the stock market, the terror boogey man will be resurrected, and the folowwing will be the mantra of the republicans until the election. "Would you trust a Democrat that votes for the war, then rescinds it to protect us?", "Now IS the time to stay the course."

Hello President Giuliani!
