http://www.atlargely.com/2007/07/the-bush-cheney.htmlThe Bush-Cheney Legacy ...President Bush is always claiming that he need not have to explain himself in the present because it is the future that will answer the questions we all have. Of course by then we will all be dead and the Bush administration's absolute criminality will be known as history, but no one will be held accountable. What a clever way to get out of having to explain yourself.
But the reality is we have many visible measurements of this administration's legacy, the only thing we don't have is the full view of the depth of the depravity or an end in sight. But we do have the measurements in the present.
The latest such measurement comes by way of another international study, this one measuring the most peaceful countries. To our shame that will not soon be removed, the United States falls at 96 out of 121 countries studied. The countries that score above us should make your skin crawl when you consider that some of them is where we outsource torture to and others are openly terrorism-supporting nations:
- 73, Egypt
- 77, Syria
- 90, Saudi Arabia
- 95, Yemen
- 96, The United States of America
- 97, Iran
That is one hell of a legacy when even countries openly supporting terrorism and openly murdering their own people beat us on the peace scale.
