I would like to add my voice to those valiant Americans, Cindy Sheehan, Ray McGovern, Ret. Col. Ann Wright, Rev. Lennox Yearwood, David Swanson, Medea Benjamin and Jodie Evans of CodePink calling for impeachment of George Bush and Dick Cheney. You, of all people, are familiar with the reasons so I will not repeat them.

I am a Canadian citizen with three children who are young adults. My partner is an American citizen, born in Boston. Like countless others all over the world, we are watching events unfold in the United States.

Allow me to tell you a short story:

Shortly after the 2004 election, I attended a conference in Toronto where a keynote speaker was a Democratic party election manager. As she took the podium, she began by apologizing for being American. Mr. Conyers, this woman APOLOGIZED for being American.

Afterward, I spoke directly to her and said that she should never apologize for who she is and that going to foreign countries makes her an ambassador for her own. As long as she conducted herself well, she was an asset to the US and perpetuated the warmth that people feel for Americans, regardless of how we feel about your Administration and foreign policy.

This is your chance, too, to restore the world's confidence in Americans. Please bring back our faith in all that America once stood for. Please initiate impeachment proceedings against George Bush and Dick Cheney.
