Lighten Up!
So let me get this straight. . .

Mitt Romney holds up and autographs a sign comparing a sitting U.S. Senator to a mass murderer. Senator Obama has never been accused of being anything but a loyal American. In fact, he has essentially held off on the opportunity to cash in on his Harvard Law Degree and devote his career to public service. And, oh yeah, he's running for President, has young children and is already under heightened security from the Secret Service.

John McCain jokes about bombing another nation that never attacked us, and that is not currently a threat to us. He jokes about escalating a conflict that has already put the world, and my children's future, at risk. He jokes about bombing a country full of people who have nothing to do with any of the drama at the international stage.

And the response from both of these men is to "lighten up." Look, people say dumb things all the time. But to look back on their statements and not conclude that they were wrong and require apologies says something about these guys. For lack of a better term, these are simply "bad people" and the idea that they are considered viable (or, in the case of McCain, were once considered) Presidential candidates says an awful lot about the Republican Party.

1. Vomit alert
I'd been out of the loop on the Romney thing, rooted around, and found this:

http://www.renewamerica.us/columns/gaynor/070723

from this dork:

(note the Freeptacular capitalization of imaginary terms like "Far Left")

Mitt Romney is the Republican presidential possibility the Far Left seems most to fear, and no to Osama, Obama and Chelsea's Moma is a message the Far Left does not want to hear.

Osama is Osama bin Laden, the Islamic extremist head of the terroristic al Qaeda organization; Obama is Barack Hussein Obama, the junior senator from Illinois who wants to be the first person educated in a Saudi-supported mosque wahabbi school in Indonesia to become President of the United States and the woman who publicly complains about his failure to pick up his socks as America's first Black First Lady; and Chelsea's Moma is that woman who chose to work at Arkansas' Rose Law Firm instead of bake cookies and wants to make her impeached spouse America's first First Gentleman, Hillary Rodham Clinton.

The original joke went like this: Chelsea Clinton went to Iraq and asked a brave Marine whether he was afraid of anything. He replied: "Osama, Obama and your Moma."

It's morphed a bit. Now there's a campaign slogan: "No to Osama, Obama and Chelsea's Moma."

Far Leftists are not tolerant of jokes at their expense, so it's not surprising that when Republican presidential aspirant Mitt Romney appeared in a photo with a campaign sign setting forth that rhythmic slogan, a Far Leftist went on the attack.

2. What I don't understand
is how the Museum of Modern Art came into this and what it has to do with Chelsea Clinton.

Also, that guy's head looks like it was carved out of a turnip.

4. jokes
God, they are stupid. If it was funny, I would laugh even if it was at our expense. But, DAMN, conservatives are not funny. Not even a little bit. Nope. What IS funny is that they think they are funny. That makes me chuckle.

5. These people can't even disguise their bigotry.
His missive practically oozes with misogyny and racism, not to mention that doofus's own overblown sense of privilege. "If we elect either one of them, the darkies and the wimmens will never know their places again! Oh noes!1!!1"

And what's with "Moma"? I have never seen it spelled like that, and he did it twice so it must be intentional. Is Sen. Clinton a museum in NYC now?

6. And what does Cheslea have to do with anything.
With all the stuff bush's two chippies did, the press was practically forbidden from reporting on them. Goodness knows what they would have found, but here they start to jump on Chelsea who is nothing but a model citizen, oh except she is a democrat and a child of a democrat running for congress.
