Michael Moore: "I Will Be On Leno Tonight-I Will Be Making A Special Announcement On The Show"
I truly believe that the health care issue is one where we can find some common ground with those who may hold different opinions than us. After all, they're getting the shaft by the same insurance and pharmaceutical companies we are. And sooner or later, they're not going to take it any more, either.

Yours,
Michael Moore

P.S. I will be on Jay Leno (The Tonight Show on NBC) tonight (Thursday) at 11:35pm ET/PT. I will be making a special announcement on the show.

2. Exposing another republicon diaper-sex pervert?
Nope. He'll actually be making a constructive suggestion, I'd wager.

Meanwhile, the DLF (republicon Diaper Liberation Front) will be gearing up to trash him, fer sure.

5. Don't do it, Mike!
We already have a Ralph Nader-type spoiler to contend with in the form of caging and black-box voting. You throw your hat into the ring and all it's going to do is make it easier for the most criminal political party in the modern history of the world to regain its stranglehold on America.

6. My speculation: a surprising ally (re big bidness) in the fight for single payer.
Edited on Thu Jul-26-07 08:16 AM by blondeatlast
Big and little bidness is seeing this as a legitimate way to cut their overhead considerably.

11. i hope so
there is big synergy there --

he points out in the movie that $1800 of every American automobile made is healthcare cost

fund the healthcare publicly; cut the obscene profits to pay for hte now-uninsured; cut the shell game trying to avoid paying to reduce administrative costs, and America, Inc. becomes more profitable.

the overall effect is better access to quality healthcare for all, and a shift of the profits from the big hmos back to our manufacturing base - which would be trickle-down economics at its finest.

7. Michael Moore has been doing a fantastic job in bringing the mess that is our health care system
to light. I've been really impressed by his recent media appearances. I think his head-on confrontation with CNN's bullshit attacks was a shot across the bow to the rest of the media. I looked at the feedback CNN got on the Michael Moore appearance and it was about 20:1 critical of CNN.

12. no
he is holding out for Gore. He commends Kucinich, but won't endorse until he is sure there is not another alternative.

And if you drill down, listen to the full explanation, Edwards endorses single payer, says thats where we need to get, but proposes a hybrid permitting people to choose between a government "extended-medicare" and private. He says he fully expects the government program would win - or at the very least provide competition that would force the privates to be fair or go out of business. Alternative route to the same end.

Even the UK has a private healthcare option available. Rich people who want it use it, but the government program is there for all.

20. The problem is that single payer save the money when it is in fact the single payer.
Which is why Medicare right now isn't single payer. It's a not-for profit insurance pool.

I also believe Edwards plan subsidizes private for profit payers, does it not?

22. MM will come to the house of a repug who went to see his movie
Edited on Thu Jul-26-07 11:31 AM by caligirl
If you can get a repug friend or family member to go see the movie and send in the ticket stub the winner of the contest gets a visit from MM who will do his laundry the way its done in France for new moms who request the service as part of child care assistance.

26. Nothing much.
More self-promo than anything else. He's offering a "SiCKO card," so if your HMO denies a procedure you can threaten them that Michael Moore will put them in his next movie or something. Obviously, it's a logistical impossibility that he could do that for as many people as will want it.

Moore should start his own HMO--that would be news.
