Shadow's Medical Updates: My shrink just dissed me
No shit, A therapist I had my first session with last week didn't open the door for my 10am appointment today. No, cancellation call, nothing. This woman was on a list that was compiled for me and she was one of the more highly reccomended on it. I fucking give up. I'm even paying cash out of pocket for all my treatments and meds too and I still get treated like nothing. Thanks Dr. Everything will be alright. Guess I just double up on my incapacitaing meds until you can fit me in your schedule. This is why I've avoided medical care for 15 years. Is there a psychiatrist in the house that does IM therapy?

shouldn't make scheduling mistakes. Not at 80 bucks for 50 minutes.

7. I figured I was the one who made the mistake but I checked
the card she gave me last week and I was right on. I wanted to see her sooner than tody even and now I'm just beat. Sorry DU you're gonna have to let me sit on the couch for a while.

9. I'm in crisis, that's why I showed up with money
A call could have helped. I mean I don't have any severe validation issues or anything, yeah right. Even people you pay cash don't do their jobs anymore. What's this world coming to?

10. Hang in there
It might take several weeks or visits before you finally click with a therapist...but when you do, it will be worth it.

The bigger psych groups will do a pre-interview and set you up with someone that they think you'll be compatible with. Worked for me.

Regarding Ms. No-Show, let's hope her reason for not showing up wasn't trivial. Death would be an acceptable excuse, I think.

Like I said, hang in there. You're among friends.

It's important to remember though, that she's just a person herself :eyes:. I'm pretty sure she'll be in touch. If not, i'd be sure and let the people who refered you know. That's important-

13. She just called
saying she was looking for me and couldn't hear me knocking. I was supposed to come in the main door, which was locked, and wait in the waiting room. 10 demerits to her for being absent minded. I'm rescheduled for 1pm today.

21. Glad it's sorted out!
These things do happen (I once had an appointment with a doctor, that was delayed because he had locked himself out of his own office!). At least you'll get your session, and won't be charged for one that didn't take place.

17. That's happened to me before.
My doc moved and didn't tell me. I had been seeing him for about 6 months. Talk about losing trust in someone. Try and find another doc. This one obviously is a waste of time.

18. find a new doc immediately!!..not all doc's are the same..and not always are the ones
at the top of the list the best!!

doc are people..they are not all the same, as all of us are not the same..find a new one immediately..ask for interviews with them first and find the one you like the most and feel most comfortable with..interview them!!

they should not charge for that!!

no one can help you if you are not comfortable with them and if you have any hang ups with them!!

and trust your gut feelings!!

and do not ignore your own health and care!!

It sounds too early to tell with this one, she could be alright.

Hang in there, and try not to take it personal. As the great philosopher George Carlin once said, almost everyone is either stupid, crazy, or full of shit. Given that, I figure being a little crazy ain't so bad.
