Six US troops killed in Iraq

2 hours, 22 minutes ago

BAGHDAD (AFP) - Six more US troops have been killed in Iraq, including three marines and a sailor killed in a day of fighting in the restive province of Diyala north of the capital, the military said on Thursday.

The four were killed while fighting in the second most dangerous province in Iraq after Baghdad, where 10,000 US and Iraqi troops have been carrying out a major assault on suspected Al-Qaeda strongholds.

Another soldier was shot dead in south Baghdad on Wednesday, and a sixth died of non-battle related causes on Tuesday, the military said.

The latest fatalities took the US military's losses in Iraq since the March 2003 invasion to 3,640, according to an AFP count based on Pentagon figures.

From CNN:

26 dead, 75 wounded in Baghdad car bomb

BAGHDAD (CNN) -- At least 26 people were killed and at least 75 were wounded Thursday when a car bomb detonated in the main street of central Baghdad's Karrada district, Iraq's Interior Ministry told CNN. (Posted 2:03 p.m.)

"So Bush’s two proudest achievements are getting people killed and pardoning a convicted felon."

It might sound selfish but my heart stops everytime I see "sailor" and then logic kicks in and says "nah, you would have been told already."

5. When bush started his so called surge...
he made sure to say that causualties would be going up as an excuse for it. When the casualties are low then he says that means the surge is working.
