Pat Tilman - overkill
whoever murdered him was a sadistic, vicious, evil fuck.

Are any of you familiar with the M-16 rifle?

That rifle is designed to cause a LOT of damage. Upon exiting, a M-16 round takes a huge amount of tissue out with it.

3 shots to the forehead?

I'm horrified.

6. That simple
There is no other explanation. I hope every parent shows this story to their kids thinking of joining the military.

2. Even if it was just a movie
Didn't they cover the whole 3 bullet thing in the movie the negotiator? Not that movies are any credible source of information, but that's what the 3 bullets immediately reminded me of.

15. I've heard that. The m-16's we carried in 1967 didn't do that, so we were trained
to fire in 2-3 round bursts on full auto.

Would it take a good shot to get such a tight grouping at 100 meters?

10. Then why the e-mails from the lawyers congratulating themselves on avoiding
a criminal investigation?

Tillman was murdered. It is just that simple. :scared:

5. If they would have allowed a thorough investigation, I could give the skeptics
some wiggle room--but this is as plain--and HORRIFYING--a cover up as I care to see in my lifetime.

21. From the AP story just released this evening
The doctors — whose names were blacked out — said that the bullet holes were so close together that it appeared the Army Ranger was cut down by an M-16 fired from a mere 10 yards or so away.

12. I'm quite familiar with the M-16.
It fires a .22 cal round of about 43 grains (iirc) at about 3200fps muzzle. Ballistically, it is almost identical to the civilian .222 Magnum. It is sold as a virmint round with the civilian designation of .223. It's not magical; it's a relatively high-velocity, small projectile. Like all military bullets, it is steel-jacketed under a copper alloy coating, which means that it doesn't tend to mushroom much. A single m-14 round (150 gr. @ 2700fps muzzle) is actually a substantially more powerful round, but the idea behind the m-16 is that, since they are smaller, a soldier can carry a lot more of them. In Vietnam we tyopically carried about 20 clips, each loaded with 18 rounds. The clips will take 20, but we usually put in a couple less than full capacity so as not to excessively compress the follower spring.

Thankfully, I never had to examine the effects close up. :brrrr:

23. Burned it.
I am sure he confided something in its pages that he wanted people to know in case of his death. But the Army sure did not want them to know.

Whether it was his feelings about the Iraq war, his fellow soldiers, whatever. Maybe he sensed that someone had it in for him and thought "If something happens to me, whether it's by the enemy's hand or someone else's, at least I will have written my suspicions down."

Little did he know they would be carefully done away with.

Maybe, because he saw the truth and was so disillusioned with the "war", they were afraid that he would speak openly about it?

he was an atheist -- disillusioned about the war -- he was against iraq --

now was he fragged from the white house or pentagon -- i doubt that -- what i do think is that he was seized upon quickly as nothing more than a tool.
