The woman in front of me left a bag of groceries at the Self Checkout line...

WOO HOO! Free groceries!

I mean, she had the opportunity to take them home. They were paid for. So what the heck...I needed lettuce and Pringles and tampons. Okay, maybe not the tampons. But what the heck, right? She left 'em. THEY'RE MINE!

Then I stopped off for gas and tried to pay with a fifty dollar bill...

(The grocery story is true, all except the part where I took her bag of stuff home with me. No, I took it up to the customer service desk and told them what had happened. Didn't work out so well at the gas station, though.)

BTW, for the "snarkers", I know this poster (Atman) personally. He's got a heart of gold, not to mention he might be lazier than me. Believe me, if he'd had the chance to stop the lady before he left the store he would have.

My problem with this post by my dear old friend is that he didn't finish it.

Where's the analogy between what a Democrat did (returned the groceries) to what a Republcian would do (thump the lady over the head in the parking lot and take the rest of her groceries because "she might be a terrorist")? Where's the snarky comment about how we can get a %50 bill out of ATM machine along with a receipt, but we can't spend it or get a receipt for our vote? Where's the observation that "the man" can track credit card transactions but not cash, so it's no wonder cash isn't good anywhere, any more?

He finished checking out and the mentally challeged guy bagging groceries
was baggin up his stuff.
That day I was buying steaks for a party I was involved with
and had about $40 worth of ribeyes and T-bones that the cashier was checking through.
So i paid the cashier and turned to the sacker to get my bag. He didn't have it.
He mumbled something about "my friend" who I was talking to in line took it.

WHAT!!
I ran out through the front door, but my "friend"
who I'd never seen before or since
and had just been chatting with in line
had DISAPPEARED!

They put people out of work.

And if I have to check myself out, then bag my own groceries, where's my discount?

I've never made it through without requiring assistance from the cashier. Something is always screwed up, be it a missing sku or whatever. Also, at our market (locally owned Big Y), they bag your groceries for you at the self check out. I'm not really sure what the point of them is, except for that when they're empty and you only have a couple of items, it's pretty damned fast.
