Thanks Jay Leno for giving Michael Moore a forum. I thought you were a tool.
Leno gave Moore pretty much the whole show. Jay may be stuck wearing that little lapel flag pin, but he surprised me tonight. I had Leno pegged as a total right winger, but the show tonight had a passion and purpose, once Moore came on. Thanks Jay.

Sorry to add another Moore thread!

9. Interesting link. Maybe he's finally had enough of having to "appear" neutral
I'm not a regular watcher of his show, but tonight I saw a room full of people who have had enough.

These shows - like Carson and others in the past - have a real influence. Tonight's show made me feel good.

Don't look for that weathervane to lead in any way, shape, or form.

11. After tonight, I'll write off those jokes as reductionist, dualistic comedy.
I guess Jay thinks there are just two sides to things and that he needs to be fair and balanced. I didn't say he was perfect.

3. Leno is still a tool; as long as one considers a weathervane to be a tool
Leno has sniffed the winds of change (or at least "his people" have) and he knows that his bush worship of the past 7 years just isn't playing any more.

(in terms of actual political importance....I know, I know, there was Arnold's announcement, but this is different, and might actually have a positive impact) especially allowing the 911 workers to stand up and be recognized

did you see the woman blow him a kiss. she looked like she was about to cry

I've never much believed in Hell, or any of that crap, but I've found myself wishing that existed for certain people for about six years or so.

7. I think his audience is fairly conservative, but this show was about the people.
I don't think I'm reading too much into it. Jay was bordering on emotion. It was real.

8. I heard him say that and Jay had him announce it first on the show.
He said he hadn't even told his family yet. Jay got an even bigger announcement than he anticipated, but I think it worked to Michael Moore's advantage, since it was a very sympathetic and positive interview (after that unpleasant interview with Blitzer...:-( )and Jay gave him lots of time. WTF is Bush*'s problem now?! But Michael Moore was right on the ball, asking if they didn't have more important things to do?!:grr:

13. This subpeona..
... is going to backfire on Bush in a big way.

Let me get this straight, we can't get staffers to come to congress to answer important questions, but we have time for THIS.

They are really losing their grip. Seriously.

14. Before the 2000 election
All Jay Leno did was talk about the number of death penalty cases in Texas--non-stop, every single night. Catholic background.

16. I don't care for Jay Leno. He definitely
wasn't in the Democrat's camp when it counted during the Clinton years. And the funny thing about a subpoena is that they have to know where you'll be in order to serve you. So the question is, did Jay Leno know beforehand that the server would come? This is something that can easily be determined. Who let them in? Were they advised by someone on the set that they would come?

18. Don't give Leno and NBC too much credit. It's all about ratings.

And ratings is all about money.

Even the RWers were tuned in just to see what was being said.

19. Leno's wife Mavis has been an activist for women's rights in Afghanistan
http://uwnews.washington.edu/ni/article.asp?articleID=2360

>>
For the last five years Mavis Leno has used her status as an author and celebrity wife to bring attention to the plight of women under the Taliban rule.

Leno will speak about the restoration of women's rights in post-Taliban Afghanistan in a lecture at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 26 at Town Hall, 6th and Seneca.
>>

Jay mentioned this on his show before and called his wife liberal.
