If A Republican Is Elected President in 2008, I Will Definitely Move To Europe
I've threatened to do this in 2000 and 2004, but now I am finally financially able to pull off such a move. If President Guiliani or President Romney or President Thompson is sworn in 2009, I will be on a plane heading to Europe to start a new life. I'm just too old for this shit. I'm not going through another 4 years of this shit.

I apologize to anyone who thinks that I am a coward, but I just can't do it.

2. One might be selected but no chance one will be elected
Thanks to bush, the gop might be in minority status for a long time to come. You can fool about 25% of the american people all the time, that does not constitute continued victory.

5. I wouldn't equate a 25% approval rating for Bush
with a 25% approval rating for all Republicans. The election is a long way off, but you wouldn't know it with all the debates going on.

27. You underestimate how much our media can suck-up to a GOP nominee
I mean, has any criticism of Rudy Giuliani made it into the mainstream since 9/11?

And, look at how the media is almost orgasming over Fred Thompson?

19. Yes. When I was there in 2004 they really wanted people to move there because of a
falling population. However, I don't want to give up 50% of my retirement income. It will take you $2.0173 to buy a British pound. (as of yesterday)

that guy sickens me....I honestly think Romney would be worse than Bush...He would cater to the religious right unlike any president, he would be their bitch...

I'll move to London & have some small apartment & probably go broke, but that would be a better life than a life in the states with a bastard like Romney as president..

A Dem will win in '08; I'm pretty sure of it. All the Repub candidates suck, and the solid base they had nearly a decade ago is all but gone.

I'm gonna stay in the belly of the beast, but I do not judge anyone else that says screw it, I'm outta here. I completely understand those feelings. The parents of my best childhood friend left Germany in about '36; on one of the last flights out that Jews were allowed on.. obviously a literally life saving decision.

Edited on Fri Jul-27-07 03:11 PM by BeHereNow
I've posted it on DU several times over the years-
It is my favorite "shopping" web site.
They list EVERYTHING you could ever want to know
about moving anywhere on the planet-
~ ENJOY ~
http://www.escapeartist.com

Be sure to check out the real estate pages...
hours of dreaming available there.
And I'm with you, I think it's high time to seriously
consider living among people who have some
consciousness of the increasing global crisis.
Americans, for the most part, are living in a fantasy world
that is crashing down around them, even as we type.

36. I am glad to have company. It does have to do with age. I also
threatened to leave if Bush won again in '04, but was not yet financially able. I too by '08 will be ready to move to Europe. Want to join me in the south of France...can't be too many GOPers there...Frenchies are not their thing, as we all well know. That said I am still hoping that a Democratic president will be sworn in Jan '09.
