* Announces Universal Health Care Plan
Apparently, we already have national health care and just didn't realize it!

1. "Just go to an emergency room"
Then what? If you don't have insurance what do you do?

2. The idiot's point is that it is illegal to turn someone away from an ER
Edited on Fri Jul-27-07 03:12 PM by Yael
Not that it helped the guy who the VA let die this week because he wasn't a veteran (so they wouldn't treat him).

On Edit: link to that story is http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=389&topic_id=1450572

4. What good does that do
When the person gets a whopping bill they can't afford to pay?

The issue isn't getting healthcare so much as being able to afford it. Getting healthcare one one occasion and going into debt for the rest of your life does no good. But spoiled brats like Chimpy wouldn't understand that.

6. Also, by the time you have to get emergency care,
it is too late for chronic diseases that should have been diagnosed years earlier.

Emergency care is for accidents, heart attacks, acute attacks of other kinds, not for regular heath care. Bush is out of touch as are the other Republican candidates.

9. Of course
Then you're blamed for being "irresponsible". :eyes:

And of course Bush is out of touch. He has no clue what it's like to be an average American, nor does he care.

8. I know someone who was turned away from an ER w heart attack symptoms
because he owed money from his last visit there.

It is a MYTH that they will not turn people away.

And what about that woman who writhed on the ER waiting room floor in agony for 45 minutes, until dead? They just walked around her.

ER's are for EMERGENCIES! Is he saying, wait until you have an emergency before getting medical care?

10. WebMD is the Primary Care Physician, I guess
Just imagine how drastically wait times will drop when people can actually see a doctor as opposed to having to (i) wait until it is too late or (ii) use the ER for every imaginable ache and pain.

7. Of course! Just go to the emergency room, wait 4 hours or longer
for treatment and pay the highest rates around for the treatment you get. What a wonderful solution.

:sarcasm:

11. Meanwhile the tax payers cover *'s colonoscopy...
...a lot of people who are supposed to have one can't afford it.

Tax-subsidized health care for me, one of the sons of highest privilege who has never had to worry about meeting a rent payment, and I come across as just ah-shucks like a real salt of the earth Texan on my Crawford villa at the former hog farm.
