U.S. Set to Offer Huge Arms Deal to Saudi Arabia
---

It's these type of deals, the attempted sale of our ports to the UAE, and the Bush family's cozy relationship with the Saudi Royal Family that have people scratching their heads and fuels the speculation and "conspiracy theorists" that 9-11 was an "inside" job done to gain further unitary executive (dictatorial) power.

The 9-11 hijackers were overwhelmingly Saudi, money used for 9-11 came from Saudi Arabia and washed via the UAE, Al Qaeda killing our troops in Iraq is comprised of Saudis.

I know...let's sell them a big weapons deal.
That will keep us safer...yikes.

U.S. Set to Offer Huge Arms Deal to Saudi Arabia

By DAVID S. CLOUD

WASHINGTON, July 27 — The Bush administration is preparing to ask Congress to approve an arms sale package for Saudi Arabia and its neighbors that is expected to eventually total $20 billion at a time when some United States officials contend that the Saudis are playing a counterproductive role in Iraq.

The proposed package of advanced weaponry for Saudi Arabia, which includes advanced satellite-guided bombs, upgrades to its fighters and new naval vessels, has made Israel and some of its supporters in Congress nervous. Senior officials who described the package on Friday said they believed that the administration had resolved those concerns, in part by promising Israel $30.4 billion in military aid over the next decade, a significant increase over what Israel has received in the past 10 years.

But administration officials remained concerned that the size of the package and the advanced weaponry it contains, as well as broader concerns about Saudi Arabia’s role in Iraq, could prompt Saudi critics in Congress to oppose the package when Congress is formally notified about the deal this fall.

In talks about the package, the administration has not sought specific assurances from Saudi Arabia that it would be more supportive of the American effort in Iraq as a condition of receiving the arms package, the officials said.

5. K&R #2. This is exactly what countries like Mexico have said for decades:
"What is the business of the U.S.A.? Manufacturing and selling arms. Then they get all concerned when their buyers start USING the arms."

And:

"Mexico is accused of sending drugs to the U.S. The U.S. supposedly believes in supply and demand. It's very simple. If there were no demand INSIDE the U.S., there would be no supply from Mexico."

And I say: These concepts have broad application to the general wingnut character: Basically, they look outward and always look for somebody to blame OUT THERE. (Libs look inward.) They cut programs for drug (or whatever) rehabilitation and education, while they are all for throwing money at "War on Drugs," border walls, river boats, dune buggies, horses, thousands more Border Patrol, laser gadgets, passport regulations----instead of addressing the DEMAND INSIDE the U.S. for Mexican labor (and drugs). They are for superficial "solutions" instead of root causes.

7. Bush Junta "assumptions"
A lot of assumptions are made by the Bush Junta regarding this "deal".
The chief one being that the Saudi Ruling Family will be able to maintain it's dictatorial power.
Let's just say the sale goes through, weapons are delivered, and the country is toppled by insurgents...now "who's your Daddy"?
