In re: the Larry Craig matter, we keep hearing from people about the "children" who might be exposed to illicit, public gay sex in restrooms.
Well, I'm glad we all care about the children. We should.
But, what about all the little gay and lesbian kids and teenagers that stand on the cusp of an entirely new era? There are probably tens of millions more of them than there are the random child exposed to the sounds of a sixty year old giving a hand job in a stall.
Yesterday, a judge effectively legalized same sex marriage in the state of Iowa. This morning, two young, Iowan male adults tied the knot, before the same judge stayed his own order. They are the first gay people in the midwest of the good old USA to ever get married.
Now that we've all agreed we don't want "the children" exposed to closet case relics from an earlier, repressed era, can we concentrate on making sure that NEXT generation of kids, both gay and straight, grow up in a country where they ALL can dream about growing up and creating a family and marrying the person they love?
Where that dream is not just reserved for little HETEROSEXUAL children?
Larry Craig pretty much spelled it out for us.
It's all about the children.
Right?
